AR Jeepers with Ham radio?

Checking to see if there are any Arkansas Jeepers out there that also use ham radio in their Jeep.

nice. I prefer using that over cb. Its nice and quiet, and has plenty of coverage.

This is an old thread, but figured I'd still chime in. Completely agree!

Bella Vista, AR here. Have a 2 meter setup in my Jeep. Very solid.

I'm very curious to find out how many jeepers actually use a mobile ham unit.

I was thinking about getting a cb but this thread made me do a brief research venture into the cb vs. ham topic. I would much rather have a ham because you have to actually know what you're doing to be able to use one.

My only question would be about the trade off between the number of cb users and the professionalism of ham users. If there are a lot of off roaders I could talk to with a ham radio I would definitely choose that. But I like the idea of knowing more about road conditions, accidents, and speed traps (granted I am the a-hole that goes 55 on the freeway to save on gas) that you get from the higher number of users on the cb.

Any thoughts?

Ham is much more useful as a consistent and reliable form of communication overall. And the professionalism of amateur radio ops tends to be much higher.

That said, a CB might be more handy for trail-only situations. More Jeeps have CBs than ham radios.

Really, each offers some advantages but having both would create the most options.

Personally, I only have and use amateur radio in my Jeep.
