Brighter headlights

Has anyone had any experiance with brighter headlight replacement? I don't want to hang additional lights on my 2012 Wrangler Unlimited, but the stock headlights are "dissapointing". I see aftermarket conversion kits in the catalogs and I'm wondering if they are really an improvement.

I've got HID's in my tj and they are wonderful replacement compared to what I had. My low beams are brighter than my old hi beams.

This week I installed some Phillips H13 9008 in my 2012. The low beams are brighter and produce a wider beam than the OE bulbs. High beams need some help. In my opinion the $30 investment is worth it for the low beams.

I went the HID route as well. Made all the difference in the world. The stock bulbs are awful. I did adjust mine down a bit to keep from being too bright for oncoming traffic. I had a lift/leveling kit which had thrown my beam allignment off anyway.

For the Philips H13 9008 X-Treme Power bulbs do you just swap the bulbs or do you need to buy a converter box?
