I love where this is going, but personally I don't like the little lettering spelling out "wranglerforum.com". I don't think it's necessary- the idea is to have a logo.
Example: Like it or not, when you see the Apple computer logo, you know what it means without having to have "apple" spelled out anywhere... see what I mean? Having just the "WF" will make it more like a logo, and people will learn to identify it as being associated with this site. (Just like you associate that other logo with that other wrangler site...)
If the plan is to promote the site, I think the URL is kind of important, no?
On the page where you can buy stickers, it says their function is to allow fellow forum members to spot each other, be it on the trail, on the street, at the mall etc etc. Not necessarily to promote the site. But, hey, who says we can't revise the sticker's function?
What if it was reallllllly tiny and inside the Jeeps body itself?
That would sort of go against the whole idea of it, wouldn't it? If it were realllly tiny then nobody could see it.
Obviously some folks like the idea of having the whole URL on the sticker, and that's fine. I just personally think it looks hokey and wouldn't put it on my jeep... but then again I think 90% of stickers are pretty stupid.
I'll work on the new versions tomorrow. I think we need the website name, without it people will have no idea where to go. If the plan is to promote the site, I think the URL is kind of important, no?
Re: the site name, the way I think of it is this- we're all crazy about checking out other rigs that we see on and off the trail, reading / comparing builds, etc. There's so many unique rigs out there, and each of us co-opts the things we really like for our own rigs, or at least talks about it incessantly online and with each other in real life. Truly a community. So, it's in our nature to be curious and seek out information when there's something jeep-related that we just have to know more about. How many of us stack up quadratec catalogs like baseball cards and read them over and over again just in case we get that chance to quote it in real life?
That said, I think not listing out the site makes the sticker stand out more (at least YOUR sticker, I should say). I think it would turn heads and guys would get curious about it, ask about it, look for it online, at club meetings, etc. And there's something special about a decal that is somewhat "underground" / not for everyone to immediately recognize. There are a ton of jeeps in Austin, but only a few that I've seen that have a forum sticker like the JKF one. I personally get a big smile on my face when I see them, makes me feel even more a part of the community if that makes sense (and to top it off, I spend most of my time here!).
So, ultimately, I think a decal without URL would still promote the site, and probably in a more effective way. When new folks finally find their way to WF, I think they'll be a lot more sticky / loyal.
Sorry for the novel, but your decal design got me ridiculously excited.
