UPDATE: Moved servers...

Sorry for the longer then anticipated downtime in moving WF to a new server. The old server was locked down pretty tight and a few attempts to get the site moved failed. We had to revert back to the slow manual route but the result was a success.

I need your help testing to make sure the site is running 100% perfect here on the new server and that all images, avatars, etc are viewable. Please report any issues you have to this thread and I will address them one by one.

Thanks for your patience.

Regards,

Andy

Window's and Unix have slightly different ASCII character formats. I'm guessing that perhaps we changed operating systems in the move (?). All you have to do is go back into your profile and retype the special characters and then save it.

Just as a note, it didn't bother me at all that the site was down. It forced me to work outside in the snow that the weather man did not forcast.

I'm pretty sure they did try to do this at night.
I'm a night owl and it was down for me Christmas night.
I can understand having issues in a forum move, there's quite a bit to it especially if they had to switch to a different OS on the new server.

Thanks for your work. I was in the woods hunting all day and I only caught the tail-end of the outage.

All's good.

the way. The site was on a shared server and provided limited access. I tried a few times using various methods. After none of the options worked we had to revert back to a strait FTP transfer. There were various stumbling blocks along finding out the other options did not work. The good news is we are now on a server that should be plenty of horsepower and no changes needed for the foreseeable future. Once our page views grows enough, I will switch the site over to the scalable setup where we will have multiple web servers, dedicated & slave MySQL, and file server. My guess is it will be around this time next year.

The only other changes I see coming up soon will be a vBulletin software upgrade to the new version 3.7 that has social networking features like interactive profiles, bookmark/tagging system and some other features. I'll need y'alls input when setting up the new features. Hopefully we will be one of the first established Jeep sites running with these features. I will also look at the Garage feature which allows you to build profiles of your Crawlers and link to other members who have similar setups.

Thanks for understanding about yesterday. It was one of those things, instead of aborting and putting it off, I really wanted to get off that server and onto our machines. Now we are and should be set.

Andy

I am not sure what that is. Can you describe what this was?

(one feature I like to add is the ability to post a YouTube link in the thread and then have the forum software recognize that and convert it to embed the movie right here in the thread. If that's what you are talking about, then yet, I'd like to get that feature put in place.)

Yeah, that. We had it before but it apparently caused a problem.

I will be adding that functionality back at the next upgrade. I will go over things and prop up settings to you all to see how you want to configure things. It will be a good process to get everything dialed in.
