For those that missed it, this years Wheelers For The Wounded Annual Fall Crawl was held in Durhamtown Plantation near Union Point, GA. With clear skies and daytime temps in the 70's and 50's at night, the weather could not have been more perfect, while 4 days of rain earlier in the week kept the trail dust down. Mike McCommons (owner of the park) has been very busy opening new areas of the park and putting a lot of effort into improving and expanding trails for the 4x4 crowd. There is an all new obstacle course as well as a 4x4 trail section while the old favorites are still there (like "Slippery Nipple"). At our peak (on Saturday) we had approximately 40 rigs registered for the event not including MX/ATV riders.
We raised $1,066 from raffle/gear sales and donations.
The proceeds from registration fees collected by Durhamtown came out to $1,710. This includes a $5 donation from the park for each MX/ATV rider that registered for the event.
That makes our total that we will send to Ft. Benning a whopping $2,776!!!
GREAT JOB FOLKS!!! I couldn't be more proud of our club and everyone else who came out to support our wounded soldiers. You each deserve a huge round of applause and Matanzas Jeep Club extends to you a great debt of gratitude.
And we certainly cannot forget all the great sponsors and individuals that stepped up to make this event such a success!
