Don't go after it has rained, since it is your first time I would go with someone, I didn't my first time and was pretty intimidating. Take a 5$ bill for the trail fee, even though it was intimidating my first time, the last few times I have gone in alone. You'll be suprised at how capable these Jeeps really are, you are locked so you shouldn't have any problem navigating this trail. Just pick your lines and don't be chicken on the gas going up, nothing worse than coming down backwards. The hills are steep and I skidded backwards with the brakes locked because I didn't have enough lift and got hung on one of the berms my first time. No big deal just a bit unnerving, the feeling of not being in control and gravity taking over. If you go in on the lower end, the end where the vault toilet is, at the first trail intersection take the trail to the right, it is a deadhead but it is a good warmup. You can wait at this intersection for other people to come in and tag along with them if you are a first timer. More people more fun.
