Good evening. A facebook group I belong to is trying to get some Jeeps together for a ride to Bell Mountain. The dates they are inquiring about is January 3, 2015 and January 10, 2015.

Let me know if there is any interest here and I will keep you guys updated as the dates get closer.

The group is Paulding County Jeepers

If you're looking for boring, Bell is probably the wrong one to start with. I hear Tray Mountain is a pretty boring ride and I can say that Charlies Creek is definitely easier to navigate than a couple spots on Bell. And Charlies is a longer trail with some water crossings and fun stuff like that. Here's another clip, this one's from charlies creek.

I second that idea. Offroad parks are where you should really be doing your wheeling. There are plenty of trails for the novice or stock jeep and it goes up in difficulty from there. Go with a group of friends or a club and have a blast! You would really be surprised at what a stock Jeep is capable of handling. If you ever want to improve your ability offroad you really need to expand beyond washed out Forest Service roads.

Exactly. Bend N Hickory has the Twisted Frame section and that's pretty much it. Hardly worth driving all the way out there unless you live nearby. Why not go to a place you can ride and try varying obstacles all day?

Morris Mtn and Choccolocco Mtn are about 30 mins inside Alabama off I20. AOP west of Chattanooga and Gulches just in to SC are all within a couple hours depending where you live. A little further in TN is Hale Mtn, Golden Mtn, Windrock/Coal Creek. There are tons of options out there other than dirt roads in north GA.

Us being Atlanta? There's Bell Mountain, off of Shake Rag road in hiawasee, Beasley Knob OHV park in blairsville, Sheep Wallow road west of dahlonega and Durhamtown Plantation southeast of Athens, and Charlie's Creek east of hiawasee, plus miles and miles of non-maintained forest service roads throughout the Chattahoochee national forest. The picture is the view from Bell Mountain

Not sure if we had the correct trail head for Charlie's Creek, but we took it from GPS coordinates off a website. Anyhow, when we arrived, there was a posted sign just before creek stating no 4 wheel drive vehicles allowed. This was the last week of May 2015. Has anyone been up there recently to confirm it's closed. This was our first outing so I wasn't sure if we were in the correct place.

I've seen pictures of signs saying do not leave the trail but haven't heard of any saying no 4x4
