There's a gas station there and a Papa John's too, plenty of room. If not there's. Kmart parking lot across the street that never gets used.... lol.

Damn I can't make it this time-- y'all have fun! I'm in Fannin again the weekend of the 12th.

Unsolicited advice from some random dude named Nate:

To whomever asked about bringing kids, I take my 4 year old to Cashes Valley all the time. I've also taken my 70 year old mom through it too. All hips and noggins survived intact.

For the guy taking his brand new '13 out for a spin, be ready for some shiny new battle scars. The whole area is lush/overgrown-- your rig will be whipped by a gazillion branches.

Everyone, make sure you make that gentle right turn towards the cemetery. Hehehehe.

Nuts - going to have to back out of this one; and this is probably the one I want to go on the most with the water fording and stuff.

Unfortunately, I have a schedule conflict. BUMMED.

thanks Ledford for the heads up!
I still hope we can make the 30th (with my 15 month old son) before the egg hunt at my buddy's farm.
cheers.

couple of semi-related questions from a first-time jeep owner.
1. one could probably do the whole trail in 2H, right? say you are stopped and need to shift to 4H, the jeep doesn't need to be moving as for 4L, correct?

2. I noticed a slight whine at low speeds in 1st gear in 4H. normal?

okay so three questions.

I always stop as precaution to change into 4w. I do know that 4L will not engage while rolling.

You can shift in to 4HI at pretty much any speed, any speed you would be using 4WD anyway. You can shift while stopped but I think it shifts much easier if you are moving. Just let off the gas a little, don't be under heavy acceleration or deceleration. 4LO, some Jeeps are tougher than others. I think barely rolling and in Neutral is what is recommend and what works best for me.

When running the sand dunes in Michigan I would occasionally shift in to 4HI at 40 mph when approaching a dune I was about to climb.

Aside from a schedule conflict, my Jeep is now not drivable due to a significant drive train vibration. Not sure when I will get it figured out.

Yikes, that's not good! Hopefully, it will be something stupid/simple and running in no time.

I'm thinking about picking one up on Friday. It's either that or a new track bar.
