the handhelds are junk. you need a real antenna to transmit. get a cheap radio and a magnet mount antenna. couple guys in the club go that route and did it for 30 bucks at a flea market. cigarette lighter adapter works well
I'm sure there are different grades of handhelds. My experience with the Midland 75-822 has been pretty good, especially when connected to an external antenna. The last time I was out with my daughter it worked fine just plugged in to the cig lighter and using it's stubby antenna. Granted we never got that far apart. There are limited options I found for the magnetic mount antenna. The only place I could find to get a half way decent SWR was on the front fender. This worked fine running the sand dunes. Could be problematic on the trails. Eventually I plan on helping her install a Firestik on the back of the Jeep.
i have a viair 88p love it. chris at jeep addons hooked me up. it will do mine quick enough. and given time to cool off and not in a hurry it will do a couple jeeps. im just a little careful about the temps ill let it reach.
Yeah, I blame Amazon. The 88p was where I started reading. It didn't mention anything about 33" tires. Scrolled down, saw suggested alternatives... clicked over...
I repeated that step about 5 times from 31, 32, 33, 35, 37+ tires. :nonono:
But at least the group will be able to air up for free.
