I think the question was on definition. What's an FRS?

I'll be there tomorrow. If we stay on the main trail and aren't blatantly destroying the trail, we shouldn't get hassled.

no the cops wont impound your vechicle. the only way they will impound it is if you are on DNR property and the DNR themselves come out. i just talked to the new owners or the land mr W and S on the phone they said they have no prolbem with people riding on their property and said they know people like the mud out their and they themselves like it too. They said the only trouble you can run into is if you get off their land and onto DNR property or go onto land they have leased out. They said the land they leased out have gates on the entrances and posted keep out signs. So as long as you avoid those too things you will be fine. If you get a map of alatoona it shows which part of the property is DNR land if you want to know where their land ends. Upper sweetwater, Lower sweetwater, and masadonia are perfictly fine to ride on just dont take your truck within 100 yards of the lake bed. The owners of the land said they have absoulty no porlbem with people riding on these trails jsut stay off they gated trails and the posted areas. If the dickhead cops give you s*** about staying on the right trails they said get the cops to call them and they will set them straight. The cops dont want people back their because they like to control waht people do and when people get back in the woods its hard for cops to control you so that is why they say they will impound your car its a scam to scare you. Any more questions call them yourself they are real nice guys

Be careful what you read from other sites. There are several different owners. The biggest problem are the people that own and lease in the hunting property. You have to understand the two main trails are public county roads. That's why they have stop signs at the trail/road start. The big problem is when the hunting lease see big groups go back there stories start to get told and out come the Authorities.

To be honest best idea is to stay away. I have seen a lot of things go wrong there. This the main reason we don't ride there anymore. Just don't want to deal with the hassle. Last time we were there DNR were on ATV's

Well if you stay on main road there is not much they can do if you drive on side paths like a dumbass then you are on hunting land its clearly marked but if you ignore than you disregard rule and therfore ruin things for everyone else and then yes I say to stay away

I understand what your saying. Things have always happened there. And the law (DNR and Local Police) are just looking for reasons to shut it down. Last summer a young kid had a nice Cherokee with a mild lift got in one of the mud holes and started having mechanical problems. He left his Jeep for 2 hours to go get help and when he came back his Jeep was stripped of wheels and tires.
This is one of the reasons everybody started wheeling at night trying to stay away from the law. All I am saying is becareful and if you go often be prepared to get harassed and even run out

Here's the link to that Southern Jeep Forum to read the whole thread. It's old but still valid I guess. Just need to make sure we stay on public roads. I'm still confused as to whether lower sweetwater is a public road or not. It looked like Hardin Trail definitely was. Southern Jeeps :: View topic - SweetWater is off limits
