My Minivan!

Thought I would share this since it wasn't something I really expected. So I was at the gas station not long ago and this guy walks up to me from his TJ. He starts asking me how I like my Jeep and the 3.6. He seems a little abrupt but no big deal I go ahead and tell him how I like everything.

Then he asks me if I wave to other Jeeps and I tell him I wave to EVERYONE no matter what kind of Jeep they are driving. He starts laughing and tells me to quit acting like I am part of something I'm not and to enjoy my minivan!

Really caught me off guard but I really couldn't find a way to give a damn ...so...In the meantime I guess I'll enjoy my minivan and the waving part...keep any eye out because I'm still waving at everyone!!

That's a good one!

Back when the hatch back SI came out we would call it a minivan too.

guy is just a dueche that thinks "his" model (TJ, YJ etc..) is the best. I've owned them all and he's an idiot. I have a heavily modded JK and it will do more than any of my prvious ones.

The 3.8 engine was also used in dodge and chrysler minivans, the engine is bulletproof tho. Enjoy your jeep. This phenomenon has been going on since bantam lost the original contract and other companies started makin them. Its like this with every model.

Jk's are getting more plush, comfortable, but are getting more capable as well. The 3.8 is not as good as the new svvt but I drove on for years and wheeled the hell out of it, very capable. I like my newer one better, even tho its got an icky comfort my other didn't have.
Screw him... Enjoy your jeep

I'm enjoying it and couldn't agree more. I just thought it was something else that happened and had to share it with the community...figured it would give everyone a good laugh! Maybe I found a new friend at the gas station!

That's funny considering the 4 cyl TJ motor is the same as a dodge neon A jeep's a jeep. Unless you're a soccer mom in a pavement pounding JK, I wave at everyone.. even modded XJs, WJs etc.. Keep on jeeping man

Wow...that dude seems to have issues that it would even matter to him enough to seek u out, bait u into conversation just to put down your ride. Kinda sad really, prolly should just feel sorry for him.

I've had a minivan...they blow! My Jeep definately is no minivan, but she does a darn good job of gettin groceries esp when the groceries are for offroading.

On another note...what's a pavement pounding soccer mom?

Oh crud...uh...Lol. Being so new in Jeepland...I don't know what constitutes a mall crawler (sheesh im a pain in the butt with my lack of terminology). But if I've been working out I'm likely in workout clothes...heck I'm in em now. Ruh-roh...

Is it bc the rims are so big...the pic comes in kinda small on my phone. I'm super curious now what the unspoken mall crawler rules are. Does it not go play offroad? Idk...just curious.

First, Lego could never be considered a mall crawler, we know that.

The tall rims certainly point to someone who does not offroad or at least does not understand the benefits of taller side walls.

To me a mall crawler looks like a capable rig (or may not to some of us) and may or may not actually be capable but either way it never leaves the pavement. I really don't have a problem with them like some do. Interest for the owner will likely be short lived then you have a nice clean Jeep up on the used market with potentially some nice upgrades.

Lol...I'm not worried about Lego. Shes got spunk and personality...u can't help but love her (all proud parents think their babies hung the moon). But...if someone doesn't love her, she bites...really hard. So...I can't be held liable for her actions

But I've heard this mall crawler stuff and I'm finally curious as to what it means.

Won't they get broken when crawling or shorted when mudding?

There's a guy down here on the southside that actually uses his JKU for car shows!...I'm talking money! Poison spider everything that could get you off. LEDs under around fender wells you name it. 37's on 20" rims. It looks mean but obtrusive as well. You can just tell a mall crawlers when you see one. Just look at the jeeps that go wheelin with you and they have trail scars and dirt somewhere. ..

Mall crawlers...good one. I've seen some of those around Atlanta.

And for the topic that started this thread, my wife has a minivan and the JKU is no minivan (although I have taken the minivan offroad and even through a creek). I think I would kindly give that guy the 1 finger wave if I saw him on the road.

Haha, yeah I thought about the finger wave up close but there isn't to many ways to fix stupid and not only that...it was a bit humorous that someone would even do that. What the hell though, the dude has some issues.

Now for the topic off topic part of the main topic that was changed to mall crawlers...We have an emergency lighting business and I completed an order for a Rubicon mall crawler. Guy planned to take it to shows and purchased something like 20 lights for this thing. Never got a picture of the jeep from the guy but this thing will have more lights than my department vehicle has! Still trying to figure out why a car show and not a rutted out hillside. Hillside would be a ton more fun!!

Sorry...I get sidetracked easy. Like a dog when he sees a squirrel. Didnt mean to change the subject. I laughed today and thought of ur experience when I waved at a TJ and he slowed down just to give me a disapproving glare. I giggled and said outloud, I wonder if thats the same dude...and then a lil voice comes from the backseat, "mom, who are you talking to" doh!

I don't know why folks can't just enjoy the differences in our rigs. Cant we all just wheel along Your "minivan" freakin rocks!

In all fairness he may have been shocked that you waved. If find myself giving up on the JK's some days...I know I should just wave anyways.

I understand...a lot of my kind won't wave at me. Esp the ladies. Dont give up...when ur feelin down on us JKs and JKUs...drive around Paulding County, look for the red JKU sporting her new smittybilty armor fenders...ill wave, like crazy. Ill either be spit shine clean (wed-fri) or leaving a dried mud trail behind me (sat-tues).

I think the original poster handled that situation very well. And just shows that there's hope for the newer models if u see dude again, wave like you've lost your mind. Maybe he just needs some Jeep wave love

We should create cards with this forum's URL on them and a note printed that reminds people to wave at fellow Jeep owners. If you see a Jeep parked in a parking lot somewhere, you can card them as a friendly reminder/notification.

sorry to get off subject again but here's a prime example of a mall crawler.. this could be a good off road rig, minus the wheels and a few other small details, but you get the idea.. when you're scared you might get a little scratch on the fender, you've probably got a mall crawler

I used to have cards for those who parked way to close. It said, Thanks for parking so close, Next time leave a can opener!! Ass holes like you should ride the bus!

Ok that may be a little much to remind folks to wave

On a side note, I still wave at everyone and if you don't see me wave its because I wasn't paying attention or my brain was on auto pilot driving home! Easy to spot me out here in Paulding...the little Bull Dawg colored Jeep with the big FLORIDA GATOR tire cover!!

GO GATORS!!! And I'm a newb, but noticed the "wave" while driving a jeep from time to time as a demo when our dealership trades for one. I've been doing it since I got my JKU two weeks ago and up here in Nashville is's 50/50 getting a respone back.

I can't remember which member said it, so I can't give due credit, but the best thought I've read on the subject was from a JK owner who said "I can't wait until the next model of the wrangler comes out so I can say I drive a real Jeep" ..or words to that effect. I love my CJ, and my TJ, and the JKs are great.
Drive it proud!

I'm right off Old Cartersville Rd and around New Hope all the time so if your around that way then yep...you got the wave! ( Unless the head was stuck in auto pilot driving home ) Haven't done much wheelin since I don't seem to have any time but I have done a little messing around. Went with a buddy over to Walker County...Avatar picture...and spent a day cutting through some trails, service roads and across a couple creeks. It was a blast!!

Other than that...just a little around here in a couple spots. I really want to hook up with a bunch of you guys one day but I have to try and find some time. Full time job and full time business on top of that
