newbee in Atlanta

Whats going on guys, I have recently picked up my new toy 2008 Rubicon JKU back in October. I went back home in December of 2011 and drove my bro-in-laws Jeep and I feel in love and finally got my own. I am in Conyers looking for some people to ride out with sometime. I am extremely new to the Jeep scene, so I am looking to learn a lot.

Welcome! If you're eager to get off road, you should definitely join the ride that's happening this Saturday.

That might be intimidating because of the amount of people going.

Cleveland99,

Were do you go riding? I can't go this weekend. I am oncall but would love to meet up with some fellow Jeepers even if it is a Parking lot meet. (Taco Mac or something like that).

What do you plan on doing with your Jeep and what's your budget?

I recommend first doing some rides stock and see what your Jeep can do vs. the other modded Jeeps before throwing money on the mods. As you ride with them, check out the different lifts and ask the owners what they think of it.

Also, if you meet some people you trust who are way deeper in the rabbit hole, they can probably help you with your lift vs. paying a shop to do it.

Yeah that would be cool help is always great vs shop prices. I definetly dont want to brea the back I have saw several lifts anywhere from $700 or $800 up to $1,400.00. Thanks for that advice though Ill do some asking around.

I am looking to go off roading midly not up to the heavan and back since im a new to this. however im thinking a nice lift on some 33in meat w/17" rims. Right know im completly stock, they took of the regular tires that come on the rubicon and put some goodyear at tires on it.

I have so much potential that i can get out of this Truck.

First decide if you want to do old trails, rock crawling, mudding or mall crawling. Then we can steer you in the right place.

I like to do old trails and mud with a llittle rock crawl on my way to go mall crawl. BAAAHHHHAAAHAHAHA! I crack myself up, Now honestly I was amazed at all well my tj hung in there with the big boys on the rides I have been on. The only problem I had was my back end would smack on exiting some of the ruts dips and such, so I am doing a 3 inch lift but also remember you sit higher then me already from factory

This brought a tear to my eye. My little guy is growing up so fast.

And to the OP I'm constantly leading groups out for a little action. Your welcome to join us. Thall Michigun and Kappa have been out with me sand they re still alive so that's something . Kidding.
I'm the guy that's so far down the rabbit hole I can't find up.

Ill echo what's been said. Wheel it stock. Or at most get a small 180 dollar RC budget boost. Don't get new tires keep those for awhile. You need to learn and grow with your rig. You ll appreciate each upgrade more when you see the actual need for it. Stock tires are great when aired down. Your already Wei ahead of the game with Rubicon.
