Sheep Wallow rd - June 9th or 10th

Hey y'all... How about a totally informal meetup this weekend and do some wheeling on Sheep Wallow? It ranges from easy to difficult so just about anything from bone stock to baddass will work out there.

Sheep Wallow rd: Google maps link

We can meet up at the Food Lion in Dawsonville and ride out together.

So, Saturday or Sunday? What say you?

Im down to go either day. I am an hour and 15 minutes south of there so I just need a definite day and time and I'll head up there. By the way, I haven't done anything crazy yet so any pointer while I'm there would be great!

I could most likely do Sunday but I hope CB or winch is not required for this ride.

Same here, this will be my first trail ride. Only played in mud pits couple of times.

Wednesday's and Thursday's forecast are only 20% chance of afternoon popup thunderstorms. If it stays dry after tonight/tomorrow then I don't think it will be real bad out there. The hills will be dry, but the holes may still be sticky.

Since this is not a club ride or anything officially organized, there are no equipment requirements. Obviously, if you have straps and such you should bring them.

I have a CB and also GPRS two-radios. Bring either or both if you have them. A handheld CB is better than nothing!

I don't have a winch (hell, I'm not even lifted!) and I can get around out there by carefully choosing my lines. I like the challenge of running my stock YJ out there. Hopefully I'll have my lift installed in the next few weeks.

I'm good for either day as well. I'd say Sunday would be best as that gives the area one more day to dry out.

So... Is Sunday OK with everyone? I can even go both days if anyone wants to go Saturday.

Sunday works perfectly for me. If anyone else wants to, I could go both days too. 4 hours of driving in 2 days isn't too bad after I drove 23 hours to DC and back last weekend to see USA play Brazil in soccer. Keep me posted.

We can meet in the Food Lion parking lot next to BoJangles. That way, if anyone needs a chicken biscuit or two before we hit the trails then we're covered.

How about 11am on Sunday?

11am!

I have my front and rear trac bars removed, but it looks like I'll be disconnecting the sway bar for the weekend, too. Maybe it's time to do some homemade disconnects...

No no no no hahaha. I am home for the summer. I am going in to my senior year of college down there. I am in Marietta now. A little Northwest of Atlanta. I don't think I could make a day trip 5 hours there and 5 hours back

Whew! FYI, I can do Dawsonville to Midway (south of Savannah) in 4.5 hours. That's in the Honda minivan, though.

The kids know they better pee before we leave the house because we ain't stopping...

You would be surprised at what a stock Jeep can do. Give it a shot, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Bad news folks... 50% chance thunderstorms Saturday night, 60% showers on Sunday.

7-Day Forecast for Latitude 34.42°N and Longitude 84.12°W

Looks like Saturday (tomorrow) will be the better day.

I just don't have the tires to fight the sloppy hills that will surely be there on Sunday.
