Speedo change Help...

Hi all,

I don't understand how I could F*&k up a simple speedo swap but it looks like I did. Supposed to be an easy 5 min swap which it was. Speedo tooth gear # pointed in 6 o'clock position, yes. I start driving and my speedo is not working and I hear a little grinding sound so I park and pull out speedo gear and notice that the outer teeth have grind marks on them.. I reinstall and it doesn't work, I reinstall again and it doesn't work. I go to put back in the speedo gear that I took off and the speedo doesn't work. What the hell did I or am I doing wrong?

Breathe. Rotate it and try again. If you are forcing it, it's in the wrong position. You'll get it, lol

I am done for the night. I tried like 8 different times. I will try again in the morning. It is hard to get in and I do push it in hard. Is it supposed to go in easy? I am setting it in a position where the gear numbers are facing down (6 o'clock) for the 39 tooth gear. Should I twist it until it goes in easy and then rotate to the 39 tooth gear setting?

Yes, it is supposed to go in easy, and you should not need to rotate it. I don't know the correct position for yours, but again, just try the 'easy' ones.
