Tray Mtn Entrance?

Hello all,

Me and another jeeper are taking our JKs off roading for the first time this week, going to Tray Mtn.

http://www.jeepsontrails.com/off-roa...ntain-georgia/

It looks like you can enter from 17/75 near the flea market or from the other side on Chimney Mountain Rd. For those who have been there, which is the best end to start? I understand there are some small creek crossings, so would like to start closest to those in case the water is too high and minimize back-tracking.

Thanks!

I've only done it coming from the Chimney side and it's a fun litte road. I can't imagine having to turn around due to the water on Tray.

I have been up there in a pouring rain storm and there was still nothing to worry about crossing. Either direction is a good ride.

In the past, we've gone east to west in the mornings to avoid getting the Sun in our eyes. Both would work though.

keeping the sun out of your eyes is a good idea.

I'm a rebel. I enter from West and wear sun glasses .

Actually probably not much sun getting through the trees this time of year anyway.

I wouldn't worry about having to turn back ...... unless you run in to crazy S10 lady blocking the road. Dang, can't find that picture.

If you're going to have a passenger you may want to disconnect to smooth out some of the rocks for them.

What's wrong with my hat? People hate that hat. I can see the goat, I hadn't trimmed my face for awhile. But it's always the hat..... lol

Thanks, I like my hat. When it rains (as it does on every ride,) pop.... snaps come off...... protection.

Went and rode Tray Mtn today, first time taking my JK off road. Had a blast! Glad we entered from the east, got some confidence before hitting the really washed-out areas towards the top.

Glad you had fun. You just have to hug S-10 to the right.

I just named that rut. Bam.

That would be our Wild Child Chris, aka jkdreams, aka JK.

And yes I had to reach in shoulder deep to hook up the winch cable. That was a wet but fun day at Charlies Creek after Bell Mountain.

can anyone confirm that an HD truck (37"s + 6" lift) won't have any issues with height or width on the trail? got a few passengers and buncha camp gear, can't take the TJ. trying to catch some snow-camp action
