CAn a stock 4wd Chevy Tahoe make it up tray mtn rd? Have some friends following us up to camp and I'm going ridin and they want to follow. Any help would be appreciated.
Last week was my first time on Tray Mountain Rd (starting from hwy 75) and I saw a Forest Service Ford Explorer where Tray Mountain and Corbin Creek trails intersect. Beyond that point on Tray mountain I would not take the Tahoe
Drive from where? If you like driving on a bumpy road maybe it's worth it. Depending where you are and what you are looking for there may be better places to spend a day.
With that said I haven't been on it in quite a while say mabye it's gotten washed out to add some challenges ..... maybe. If you just want a drive with some mountain views, you will probably like it.
Yes and yes. It was the first time I drove my stock JKU off pavement. First 2/3 well maintained, final 1/3 interesting enough to pick correct lines over rocky and washed out areas. I think you will enjoy it!
I would yes. Just make sure and stay on the road and not wander off at Charlies Creek. Bell Mountain is a very short trail portion of the ride to an awesome view if you haven't been. This weekend should be beautiful up there.
Are both Charlie's Creek and Bell Mountain manageable for a stock Sahara JKU? and is it easy to tell which way to go on the trails? this would be my first time going, and it would just be us two jeeps. is there a map or anything to follow?
Hey everyone, going to be in the Helen GA area this coming weekend (03-21 thru 03-22/15) and wanted to see if anyone wants to meet up for a ride in Tray Mountain. Coming up from florida so dont have anyone to ride with and you know what they say - never go alone....unless you think Tray is easy enough going solo? Stock jeep with 33s Nitto Terra Grapplers.
Haha definitely can be, depending on the route you take. Gave my stock jeep no issues whatsoever. Saw a few low clearance cars parked in some spots well into the ride on Tray
