31s on ocala national 4wd trail

Simple question for those who've trailed at Ocala national. Can I go through with 31s and no lift?

You should be all right, just watch out for the sugar sand & check any innocent looking puddles for ruts before you drive through them.

Thanks!also did you ever camp out there? Can you just find a place to camp off the trail or are there designated camping spots? And do they allow fires?

Exactly what Donnie said.

You can camp at big scrub, and there's another spot due east of the bombing range. Forget it's name. Not sure about camping off the beaten path out there though.

The one east of the bombing range is Farles Prairie, on 22. But it's not marked as a camping site based on my map. Have seen hunters camp there though, with fires. Check the signs to be sure.

No problem.

If you do camp out there check over your site good first. It's a shame how much trash and broken beer bottles are out there.

I've camped out that way a lot when I was a kid (I lived literally 100' from the forest), but most of the places I used to camp don't allow camping anymore. Heck I'd probably get lost out there now since they re-numbered all the roads.

I ran across my ONF map tonight and thought I'd update ya. There are tons of places to camp out there. Before I was limiting it to the southern part of the forrest, the area I'm most familiar with.

Stop at one of the visitor centers and grab a map.

I need to explore more north of 40

Address?

If your looking for trails and not familiar with the area, I'd find 19. It's a two lane paved road that runs north and south pretty much through the center of the forrest.

From there, look for little brown numbered signs directing you to the trails. Take those and explore. Stay on the proper trails, there are some there for atvs/bikes.

I've been to a couple places when I only had 30's and had no problems. Of course I went with a group, so my confidence was a little higher.

St. Francis is a fun little trail, but can get real wet since it's close to the river. Be careful where you tread as you get deep. A member of the 4X4 club I used to belong to submerged his Landcruiser.

There's also one called Four Wheel Way or something like that. Ir runs West off of 19 around Lake Dorr on FR 573 (Powerline Road) that turns into FR 14/127TH Street. You'll go a little ways off 19 and you'll see some small brown Jeep signs. This trail will take you south of FR 14 to Baptist Lake. Pretty cool trail. There are some tight spots and some of the few hills in FL. Last time i went was several years ago when a big group helped plant the signs and block off some other trails. Lots of sugar sand and it seemed pretty high so I doubt there would be much issue with mud holes. I made it just fine with 30's. In fact, I think I only engaged 4 High a couple times.

Great info. I had heard of some trails around ONF but didn't have any clue where to look for them. Glad to know I'll be ok with my 33's and my dinky 1.25" BL!

Big scrub is noisy and full of ATVs on the weekends because it's right on the main ATV trail. Last time we were there in June it was a huge tarp tent city with a lot of loud music and noise.
If you come in off the forest road from highway 19, keep going west past big scrub and look for the first vehicle sized trail on the right ( about 2/10 of a mile past big scrub) it opens up to a big flat prairie area with great camping. Rarely anybody there but even if there are there's plenty of room for others. We had been doing that instead of listening to mariachi music all night at big scrub.
