Exclamation FL Beaches with Camping AND Driving

Ever since seeing this video of a Jeep Wrangler Camping Trip on the beach in Australia, I've put doing the same thing on my bucket list.

I have tried google searching for similar beachs in Florida, but I'm not finding any beaches where you can drive and camp. I believe the closest I've found is New Smyrna, which has vehicle friendly beaches and camping beaches, but not both together (as far as I've seen).

Can anyone identify Wrangler-friendly beach campgrounds anywhere along the Florida coast?

Huguenot park in Jacksonville has a campground with a drive on beach. Of course it doesn't look the same as that one but it's a similar concept

The Daytona/ Saint Augustine area has a drive on beach and a few campgrounds on the beach but its not like your camping alone on the beach. Your in a campground on the beach and then have to drive on the road to access the drive on beach. Anastasia in St. Augustine is nice and its a State Campground so its not that expensive. It has been a few years since I stayed there and they have had some erosion issues so I would check the beach driving with the park to make sure it is still approved.

Anastasia does not allow you to drive on the beach right now.

There is NO camping on any beach in volusia county which covers New Smyrna beach, Daytona beach, Ormond Beach and the smaller cities in between. In fact, all vehicles are off the beach by sun down.

Yes your right, I just couldn’t figure out how to make it clear they are campgrounds on the beach but off the road A1A overlooking the beach, I guess would of been clearer.

This time of the year St. Augi/Cresent Beach is nearly empty. There's a few RV parks on A1A that have direct beach access. Only surf fish are blues and whiting with occasional drum. Can't wait to get back home next week...

sounds like something interesting, i think more then likely there is nothing like that in this state. while you can drive on the beach in Daytona, thats about it. don't even bother thinking anywhere south florida thats doable, because its not lol

I would think the most logical thought would be to go driving on a beach, afterwords head to the nearest campground.

possibly ft meyers or naples ?? don't know just throwing the idea out there.

I'm right there with you, I'd love to be able to get out on a beach somewhere around here.

Ok, quick question, I went to book a room at the hotel they specified on the Facebook page and it's sold out for the event. Any of you know if there's another hotel close by that people are using?

You should be able to get something through Hot wire. And you don't have to stay in Daytona specifically. "if everything is completely out". I closed my Facebook account, do they come out with dates for the event?

April 23-27th

I only looked at the host hotel, I was just wondering if there were other hotels that people "overflowed" to. I'd like to stay kind of close where others with Jeeps are.

Also if hotels are an issue, try VRBO. We have had great luck with VRBO for bike week, even places with garages and room for trailers if that is important.

I forget the hotel we're all at... I'll look it up tomorrow... there are several to choose from. Daytona is nothing but hotels.

We plan to be there!

Only about 75 minutes from the house so I won't need a hotel.

Going to be my first time there and can't wait!

Too soon to start a "Jeep Beach 2014" thread?

I live in Melbourne and would tag along the caravan. I just move here last August and Jeep beach has been on my to-do list since I got here.

Thousands of hotels in Daytona. Look at the events schedule for Jeepbeach and just find a hotel close to where the main events you will attend. I live in Seminole but have family in Daytona so luckily no hotel needed.

I live in just outside if Daytona. The opening night is usually at hooters in international speedway blvd. the obstacles course is normally set up in the infield of Daytona international speedway which is also on international speedway blvd.

The number of jeeps last year was crazy! I don't think they were ready for it. The parade on Sunday is done on the beach. I showed up early and the A1A was packed with jeeps as well as the beach itself. The police were trying to direct people around. I would say 1000 or more jeeps were there without exaggerating.
