Those who have been to this before, care to share what the experience is like?
New Jeep owner and am seriously considering attending, if the in-laws aren't still here on vacation.
Its a lot of climbing and trails, usually not too muddy, depends on the weather. Its a great place to start because its got everything from mild to intermediate with the ability to go around something if you don't want to try it. Usually a pretty fun time. Some of us camp there, some come for the day.
Just wanted to bump this up for anyone that may be interested. Less than 2 weeks away! Any level of wheeling experience is welcome, and as stated above there are plenty of ways around any obstacle you don't feel comfortable with.
Glad to see you can go vacca enjoyed riding with you down in palmetto. Ill be coming from palm harbor so I can meet somewhere on 75 maybe a quick meet at 52?
Right now there's a 75% chance I'm going as long as nothing comes up last minute. I'm driving down from Jacksonville. Let me know if anyone else from there or that area want to meet up on the way down.
I'm looking forward to some fun wheelin with all of y'all. Lets plan to meet inside the entrance at noon on Saturday the 5th. For those of you who were looking to convoy, we'll set up something this week so everyone can make arrangements. Should be a great trip!
I'd be interested in going. For the last week since I have been back, all I have been doing is some puddle jumping here and there with some washed out dirt roads in between. The only thing that would hold me back, that is my birthday weekend. I'll have to check with the spousal unit to see what she has planned.
All right. Corey2491 and I will be leaving the Clearwater area around 6:30am Saturday morning and heading up 75 and cutting through the forest. Our plans are to camp there, so anyone who is wanting to convoy out of the Tampa area with us, just know we will be setting up camp when we get there. Our plan is to be to our campgrounds around 10. Its only a 2.5 hour trip from Tampa, however I will be pulling mine on a trailer, so it takes a little longer. I think a good meeting place for those who don't want to convoy, or are coming from other areas is a place called Salt Springs Square. The address is 14100 Hwy 19N Salt Springs FL, lets plan to meet at 11am. You will need to be on the lookout because addresses are a little spotty up there and so is cell coverage. EVERYONE is welcome and the more the merrier. Corey and I enjoy Jeeping and having fun with it, we don't take anything too serious and are by no means professionals at it. Just looking to have a relaxing ride and adventure. If anyone is looking to convoy up with us let us know and we will designate a meeting spot. Looking forward to it!!!
it looks like i'm going to be heading up with some friends who are looking to bring a quad and a dirtbike as well. not sure what time we're heading up, but we'll be heading out of st. pete sat am.
I have a question about camping. Is it safe to leave a trailer behind to go wheeling or is it necessary to leave a safety watch? I would be bringing a small trailer since nothing fits inside the jeep when the back seat is in.
Salt springs campground. It seemed safe the last time we were there.
