Info on Daytona Beach

I'm looking for some info on Daytona Beach in regards to driving on the beach. I know it is allowed in designated areas and it appears the sand is hard enough for cars.

My question is it even necessary to air down, are there areas that you can drive where this would be necessary/recommended. And any other tips would be much appreciated.

As you can tell, I have never been there before. I will be visiting there in early January. Thanks!

The beach is usually very hard and most cars can drive on it with no issues. There are times that the ramp off 40 (Granada Blvd) is open to 4wd only. I use this ramp all the time and there were only a few times I even needed 4HI you would not need to air down for any reason there. Its like driving on a hard packed dirt road with bikini clad women on it…

Hey thanks for the info! That's what I thought, but just wanted to be sure before I head down. The pictures look great and make me really look forward to it. Hopefully it will be sunny and at least some bikinis in January!!! Take care!

If you looking for some soft beach that is more of remote you can drive up north about 30 mins there is a great resturant bar under the Mantaza Inlet bridge and then just north about a mile or two you can drive on that area too. Its more beach houses so there isn’t much going on but a nice beach. Also if you get a chance head south to Ponce Inlet and see the lighthouse both the beach which has a jetty that is cool to walk out on and then right by the lighthouse there are a few cool small places to eat.
