I found out the best way to remove mud stains on your black fenders is to use one of those Mr Clean magic eraser's just FYI.

Unfortunately, when I do that, I never seem to get the mud stains out. I was actually more concerned with the mud, pine needles and leaves caked in the brakes, in the winch, and under the Jeep. Once I started cleaning the underside, I just kept going.

By the way, anyone going to Jeeptoberfest in Ocala next weekend? First time going for me.

I'm stationed on NAS JAX. My TJ is full stock as of now but a new front bumper should be changing that this week. While I'm posting here I'm curious if anyone has any whereabouts for some used 32"s someone might be getting rid of? Not up for buying brand new (the bad end of being enlisted) so 50% tread or better?? And I've wheeled every beach I can find from Amelia to Vilano and I'm planning on venturing out once I get rid of the cheerleader tires. Lol

Welcome. Of the beaches you visited what is your favorite? I've also done all 5 and really enjoy Amelia Island State Park the most I think.

Are you talking about the beach at the south end of the island? Its a fun area. Chill and not slammed like most of the beaches on fletcher Dr.

I'll take a stab at it:

Crescent Beach/St. Augustine Beach
Vilano Beach
Huguenot Park
Amelia Island State Park
American Beach?

Not sure about the last one.

Hi gang,

Got a problem. 2001 Sahara with 4" lift kit and 31" tires. Appx. 70K miles. 4.0L auto.

Transmission suddenly went out. Was seemingly working fine, but over the course of a few miles the tranny stopped converting engine rpm into forward (or reverse) motion.
Local mechanic is saying the tranny is shot and needs a full rebuild at $2400 plus dollars. I called a local jeep guy and he recently had a rebuild done for around $1200 that included a new torque converter.

My question(s):
1) What could be wrong?
2) Is tranny really shot?
3) How much to repair? Replace?
4) Who to take it to in Jacksonville?

Thanks!

Jeff

Copied from a post I made in another thread:

In order of proximity:

1) Huguenot Memorial Park

2) Amelia Island State Park

3) American Beach (Amelia Island)

4) Peter's Point (Amelia Island)

And then there's 5) Vilano Beach (previously mentioned) just 40 miles south of Jacksonville in St. Augustine.

Pretty close, you almost nailed it.

You forgot Peter's Point.

I didn't know about Crescent Beach. I'll have to add that to the list to visit.

Crescent Beach is great place for wheeling. Enter at the Oasis Restaurant on Ocean Trace Rd. in St. Augustine Beach and head south. After a few miles you'll hit the area that is open only to 4x4 vehicles. Keep going and enjoy a great beach that has soft sand and very few people.

Anyone attend Christsmen's on Saturday off of CR 208 in St. Johns County?. They had 3 obstacles courses and a mud bog. The obstacle courses ranged from 'stock' to 'modified' to 'extreme' and even the stock course was challenging. I'm guessing there were probably 100-125 Jeeps of all types. Actually got to crawl on some rocks.

Thanks for the list...can't wait to get back and try them.

Where did you hear about the event last Saturday? We need to band together on these things since our locale is not prime for our vehicles.

The Christsmen's event was not well advertised. I heard about it late and almost didn't go because I didn't know much about it. Really glad I did because it was a lot of fun. Not many chances to wheel on obstacle courses like that around here and less crowded than Jeeptoberfest. I went on the courses 7-8 times.

Evidently, they do this a couple times a year as a fundraiser. $10/person. If I hear about it again, I'll pass it along.

Great looking TJ Brad.

Are those JK wheels on your TJ? I thought they had a different bolt pattern. Using adapters?

I just realized I don't have a picture in the Jax Jeep thread. And old picture I had posted is broken now. :/

And here's a shot with my dad's '99 TJ in the background. His is in Fernandina Beach.

Yeah they are JK wheels, painted em back not to long ago though. Here's a pic of the adapters. I think they're spider Adapters last time a checked? I may have the spelling wrong.

I love that neighborhood (and Avondale). I'm around those areas quite often. I'll keep an eye out for your CG Jeep. It would be the first I've seen around here besides mine.
