Yep its billet, thanks everyone.

You know I never relized how many jeeps where in the area untill I got mine and there seems to be a ton of Rubis in Orange Park area.

Funny thing is when I had an old K5 Blazer I was 20min away from ocala forest and now having the jeep a couple hours away but find myself waving to every other jeep on the road and looking for urban crawling opportunities.

Nope, wasn't me at the base. Wish I had one of them there private civi military contract jobs though. I guess there is another Jeeper out there with a rig that looks like mine by your question?

It's been a great week in Jax for top down and/or doors off. Here's how I've been rolling after I cleaned the mud from our ride Sunday at Osceola:

How about everyone else. Top down, doors off, or both?

Nice looking rig. I will have to say that even though I opted for the hard top over the soft top on mine there is something sexy about the profile that the soft top delivers.

Out of curiosity what did you do to the grill for the two tone look in the pictures?

LIFE is GOOD!

There's a guy at the base with the same jeep and wheels (great comb, BTW) but doesn't have the KC lights. I really thought it was you. Now we just need some trails!

The mineral gray grill was part of my JKU's Mountain package, along with mineral gray wheels (since sold), and appliques on the front bumper (since replaced) and rear bumper (soon to be replaced). It looks like the grill will be the only piece that will remain, although I did like the wheels. If they only had less backspacing without requiring spacers with a lift, I might have kept them. Here was my stock Jeep:

What was up with last weekend? It felt like Seattle weather. After buttoning up, I'm anxious to get the top down tomorrow.

Unfortunately, it looks like I'm not going to be able to make it to Jeep Beach this weekend, but it should be great weather to drive down to Daytona topless. I'm envious of those of you that are going.

You work right around the corner from where I drive every day. Maybe I'll see you on Southside Blvd. or JTB, look for the Mango Tango Mountain Edition.

Nice rig, by the way!

Pilots do "Hangar Flying" - what do Jeepers call it?

I'm game for some modest off-road adventures. Let's use this forum for organizing something.

Also, anyone in Jacksonville (or close vacinity) care to get together for a beverage and Jeep discussion?

Jeff

Jeff,
I am a new Jeep owner (almost 2 Weeks now) and would like to get together for a beverage - and maybe a little flying talk along with the Jeep talk.

Our paths keep crossing! I sold the Lance in Dec 2009 and haven't flown since, and I miss it.

New Vilano Beach Jeepster

Hi all,
A new Jeepster here, my wife has always wanted one, and after she made it successfully through surgery. chemo, and radiation for breast cancer, when my 4Runner got totaled I bought us a jeep.

We live down in Vilano beach, right by Caps, and the Jeep ("Salty" was the name coined by the wife and kids after much spirited debate) has been to the beach with the top down every day since!

Looking forward to meeting up and putting her to use - primarily it's going to be Sand, Sun, and SeaDoos for us, but would love to hit some trails and expand horizons.

Paul

Vilano Beach and Crescent Beach are my two favorite beaches to drive on. Maybe see you cruisin' down the beach soon.

I see a lot of the Southern Sands jeeps there often. I think there is a Mantanzas club also. Is he with one of those?

What a beautiful beach day today! Took the top down, wife packed a lunch, we loaded up the kids and headed south. Hit the beach at the "A" street ramp in St Augustine Beach then took the 9.2 mile slow ride all the way down to Fort Mantanzas. It was awesome. Hung out at the beach for a few hours, went across the street and took the ferry over to the fort, explored that, then stopped at Rita's for Gelati. We musta seen 50 jeeps today.

This day really brought home two points. One is that I have to pull the trigger on some seat covers NOW! Wet sandy kids with wet bathing suits and wet sandy feet are a wrecking ball in the backseat of a 2 week old Jeep.

Two is that while the quadratec floor mats are very nice, they present two real problems for me. The back ones are connected to protect the "hump" and it's difficult to get them out when they are full of sand without spilling sand into the truck. The other one is that the tread is so deep that I can't vacuum out the sand and coquina because the vac is not powerful enough. So I have to remove them to clean them. That's gonna pull the anchor out of the floor before long.

This may be a little off-topic but can anyone recommend a shop in town that can do front and rear ring and pinions. I've done engine builds and tranny swaps on plenty of yotas but never have messed around with gearing and frankly would rather have a shop do it.

I've been very satisfied with the work of Happy Trails 4x4 in Mayport. They are Jeep specialists and their web site says they do ring and pinion work. I'd give Melvin a call.
