I'd like to go over there on Saturday morning. Something a little early so we get there in time to play around at the Speedway (on the obstacle course ) and some time to find screamin deals with all the vendors!

What were you thinking?

My crew is ready to roll at probably 6 or 7 AM. We were going to go earlier but now it's looking like some of them have to work late Friday night so 6 or 7 is probably the earliest we'll go. We'll be in Tampa area within 30-40 minutes probably.

Do you have to register to go into the event or can you park outside and go in to check it out?

AFAIK, you have to register to drive into the speedway. I don't know about walkins.

Last year I didn't sign up for the entire week. I only went to the speedway event. They charged $20 to get in, and you were not entitled to do the obsticle course. That was an additional $20 or $40 bucks, can't remember. If you paid for the event in advance it included the obsticle course.
For some reason I decided not to take my doors off and put the top down to go to the speedway event, and about 2 hrs after we got there the wind picked up and you could see a wicked purple wall of clouds coming in from the west, kind of like our notorious afternoon summer Tstorms, and then all hell broke loose. Dirt from the obsticle course was blowing like a sand storm, vender tents blowing away and then a deluge of biblical proportions came down. Don't know what made me keep the Jeep closed up but I was very happy with that decision. Hopefully we have good weather this year.

My crew all confirmed our schedule. We're riding over Saturday morning.

We plan on leaving Clearwater by 6AM.
We'll be passing Tampa by 6:30.
We'll be passing Lakeland by 7AM.
We'll be passing Orlando around 8AM.
Should arrive in Daytona around 9AM.

We'll also be leaving to go back around 8PM should anyone want to convoy back.

Anyone who wants to join our convoy is welcome. PM me for contact info. We're taking the slow and steady approach (not doing over 50MPH) if anyone cares to follow up there down the I-275/I-4 route.

It'll be my first time. Can't NOT go, seeing as how close it is to me!

Question about the participation fee...
Do you have to pay this just to get in, or is it only if you take part in the obstacle courses and parade? Is there a "gate fee" just to get in and watch and check out the vendors?

Last year it was 20 bucks to get into the speedway if you did not pay for the whole week of events. That will probably go up since the price for the whole event went up from $40 (early registration) to $50 for early registration. My guess would be that you would not be able to particpate in any of the other events w/o being registered.
So gas that buggy up and get over here it's only 45 minutes.

I am going over Friday afternoon and leaving Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately I have double duty that weekend. My daughters gymnastics competition is Saturday morning at 9am. Should be out of there by noon I hope.

And since we are spending a few days there with all the family, I have to tow my TJ in. I got a great deal on a car hauler for the weekend though.
