Lets do some camping/wheeling

So I got lift off clearance from my wife. Going to go up to Withlacoochee forest and camp there August 3rd & come back on the 4th. I will be bringing my oldest son (who's 4). I am waiting for a reply back from the forestry service for costs/reservations. Each site can do 2 tents, i will only be putting up one if anyone is hard up on funds can pitch another tent on my spot. I also plan to do some trails both days (maybe 2 Saturday mid day & evening, and 1 Sunday AM) if you cant or don't want to stay the night. Should have a good time. If anyone is interested, let me know and I will get the details.

I would also be interested going on a weekend trip. I live 20 min from the citrus tract if that's where you are planning on going. Staying the night is also a possibility for me. I could bring my 12 person cabin tent if need be. I glamp in style! You can thank my wife lol

Awesome. I watched some you tube videos of where we will be wheeling and it looks pretty fun. I will have more info tomorrow about prices for the camp sites, etc. the camp grounds look nice too!

I would not be able to camp but would be interested in a day run we have camped at Silver Lake a lot. and the camp sites are very nice usually very Quiet and no booze allowed the sites run $24 a night with water and electric primitive sites may be a little cheaper. Silver Lake camp ground is just about 2-4miles east of I75 at the Brooksville exit .it's the first camp ground you come too off I75.

we are in! We can't leave until 10am, which would get us to silverlake around noon.

Here is the info on the trail rides.

We will be doing our first trail ride starting at 3pm Saturday Aug 3rd. Meeting at entrance to Silver Lake campground at that time. Doing another ride Sunday at 11am, meeting at same place. We may do another ride Sat night but i dont want to set anything in stone for that 1, will depend on what everyone who is camping wants to do. Give me a heads up if you plan to make it.

Neral22 are you planning on camping? if so you can get a trail map from either the ranger or the camp host each site should have a camp host as far a night ride that you might have to check with the ranger I know you can set up camp about 11am and be out at 11am next day I would probably come up with SRQjku and meet others along the way I will send you my number by pm and we can talk sometime this week Joe.

Sounds real good Joe. We have 4 jeep groups camping as of right now with a few still deciding, so plenty more spots if anyone wants to camp or just come up for the rides.

I guess keep it on the DL and you will be OK .if you are rowdy the ranger's will pay you a visit. but it's pretty nice to have the peace and quiet Joe.

So how wet of a drive it this do I need doors and a top? You guys are talking the 3rd, my grand kids come in on the the 31st so I might be able to get 1 if not 2 of my grandsons to go on a camping trip with me... I know we can't predict the weather but someone might know if this is a very wet trail.

That sounds great. I talked with Joe and Tabber who both are familiar with it out there. It can apparently get bad. Joe suggested asking the rangers for a heads up on which trails to avoid (I don't wish to go boating ) so we will play it by ear. I figure we can do some exploring day one on the trails and know what we can get into. Joe said that if we run into a lake there is usually enough room to turn around and find some less wet trails. The video where the xterras went looks like what we would have the most fun on (more riding, less towing people out). Regardless we should have a great time

Tent camping. They have electric/water hookups. Bathrooms are short walk from the sites. You can have 2 tents and 2 vehicles per site.
