It was great! We went to the River Road area did the regular trails and explored some new trails, had alittle trail clearing work to do- some small trees had fallen. And we went to another trail area off US 90, got pretty muddy there, then went down into a trail that turned into swamp land, but we got out of there without issues, got some new pics and video.
Yea, it's funny I was at my neighbor's house on saturday telling him about the up coming trail ride, and he said well.. call me if you get stuck, he's got a big polaris 4wheeler with a winch on it. I was thinking of that 4wheeler as I was making my U-turn in the swamp. =]
once I figure out how to attatch the video I'll put it up
Man, I was all set to go. Installed my driveshaft saturday night and when I went to test it out in 4 lo the damn transfer linkage bushing exploded. $ .03 part but couldn't get one until the stealership opened this morning. That's the kinda hour long repair in the Alabama heat that makes me want a camry.
I was talking to a guy at work today, he saw Kaila and I wheeling in the swamp. and mentioned that there are some good trails East of Milton. copy and paste this address: (7720 Deaton Bridge Rd Holt, FL 32564) into Google earth or mapquest. Follow (pan down) the Deaton Bridge road south, then see Boat Ramp road go east on it and it will take you down into several trails that go to the Black Water river. using zoom feature you can see the trails going to the river. It looks very similar to the trails on Perdido river.
I haven't been out there yet, just giving everyone a heads up.
Just wanted to let everyone know that TJnewbie rocks. Thanks for hooking me up with that map.
I was planning to go Saturday to the River Rd area but Sunday is looking like the best forecast weather wise. I'm down for either day. If anybody wants to go (1Badrubicon) let me know and we can meet at the truck stop.
so my jeep has started to show some symptoms of DW!!!! and dont know where to start any recommendations?
Do you have any left over mud on your wheels, sometimes too much mud can put a wheel out of balance. I ran through some clay/mud on the way home from work the other day and my Rt wheel got caked in it. It felt like it had a light wobble to it, once I got home, I rinsed it and got all the mud/clay off of it and it was fine afterwards.
Yeah I clean the crap out of the under carriage using a power washer and I balanced and rotated the tires. The next thing I'm looking at is the track bar and steering stabilizer. It's nothing serious like the ones I've seen on the video.
Made it out to the river rd are for a few hours today. It was a lot of fun--found some pretty deep mud holes. I ran into one guy who was out on a sand bar.
He was pretty upset that the trails have become rutted out. He was in a 2wd pick up so I think he had some trouble getting through...
I highly recommend the iPhone app everytrail. I used it to track my route and it's pretty sweet. You can also upload and share trails and pictures.
