steering wheel has lots of play.. any suggestions?

hi there. i'm new to the forum. i just got an 03 wrangler.. the main issue is a lot of play in steering wheel... wondering if you guys and/or gals have any suggestions as to what i might be able to do myself. any advice would be greatly appreciated! i look forward to enjoyin trails as well as just gettin around. -thanks. happy jeepin!

Not really anything you can do. My jeep has been like that since I got her I just learned to deal with it.

hmmm...

Not exactly the advice I was hoping for... When turning one way, I have to turn the wheel about six inches the other way before it starts to turn the other way. I gotta think there's a way to correct at least some of this issue. Thanks though

I think I've found the culprit. 2 of the bolts in the steering gear box were broken off.. one was missing and the last one was bent from being the only thing holding it. Glad I found it before the last one broke! Replacing w new bolts now... That should make it a lot better. Next i'll need to have the steering wheel alligned.. is that expensive?
