Found a great place to do some 4 wheeling right in the middle of town.
Several acres of hills, culverts, soft sand, retention basin for those who want to get muddy and trails. Evidently was an old tangerine orchard that has not been developed.
Directions are I-4 to lake Mary exit east. Left at Primera stop light, Tilted Kilt is on the corner. Go about a mile and pass 2-3 large gray office buildings and you'll see a turn off on the left that ends at the woods, go about a few hundred yards past to a second road apron that also ends at the woods but there's tire tracks leading into the woods. follow this trail veer to the right until you come upon a warehouse parking lot, then veer to the left on an obvious dirt trail That will lead to a small steep hill go up the hill and turn either left or right. Theres good wheeling either way.
Had to winch my buddy out of the mud hole.
Hope i didn't give away anybodys "honey hole" but we have a serious lack of places to go wheeling so I thought I'd share. Have fun.
thanks for this post, I took my 13JKU Sport off road for the first time since i got it a week ago last night here because of this post. still got original 29s on her, and was alone, so i took it pretty easy, came in from the Wallace road side first, but there was mostly bike trails there, then entered from Primera side and found the fun, as well as some guy in his bronco.
I live in Altamonte, would love to meet up with anyone, am new to off roading, so any tips in the field would be appreciated!
Awesome, this would be no more than 2 miles from where I live in Heathrow, I go to The Tilted Kilt at least once a week. Can't wait to get my Rubicon X (ordered 5/12) and start exploring a bit, and this sounds like a great beginner spot for someone new to this like myself.
I've been out there about 5 times in the past two weeks I have had my Jeep. I actually camped out there Saturday night. I live right around the corner as well, and will likely be out there again this weekend.
This was a pic I took out there last week, I think... The days all kinda just run together.
