New Jeep pickup

Any new information on the new Jeep Pickup? Can you get a regular cab? Any specs? Can not find a thing. Dealerships do not know anything in Missouri. Help Steve

My own theory is they are going to build the pickup on the JK platform beside the JL platform for 2 years... All of the photos I've seen of the test mule have been on the JK platform.

Youre right it will be built on the jku platform. It is basically an Unlimited with a pickup on it. Thats what I was told by friend whondoes Chrysler trade shows . And there will definately be a diesel. The problem with it coming out is all the epa b.s. Blame Volkswagen for the fake emissions testing. Thats what he told me
.

Is this going to be the same idea as the Jeep Scrambler from years ago? They discontinued that because nobody was buying it. I may be showing my age here, but why do they think this will be any better ? I realize a lot more people have Jeeps now than when I had my first one ( in the early 1980"s. I have had nothing else since that time.

Pretty much just a bit longer in the bed. I loved the Scambler

Has anyone noticed how many standard cab pickups are being sold now? I would think Chrysler would look at their own Dodge sales figures and think about how many Jeep PUs with a standard bed would sell.

Had a friend years ago who commented that once you went from a standard cab to and extended cab you would never go back. And once you went from a two door extended cab to one with four doors you would never go back - and he is right.

Same thing rather applies to Wranglers. While I love my TJ, if I had to choose between the JKU Sahara and the TJ, the Sahara would win out. Weekend before last at a Scout outing the individual tasked with buying the food for about 50 misunderstood and didn't buy about half the food (his first time buying all the food). Now I normally use my TJ for Scout weekends and had intended to run around the camp Saturday with the top down. But, I had to head back to the house and get the Sahara as there was just no way I was going to get all the required stuff in the back of the TJ. In fact, There wasn't a lot of room left in the back of the Sahara, even with the back seat down.

The Wranger PU has another issue, that all standard cab PUs have and that is the lack of covered storage. It may be a great small vehicle for local runs. Of course one of the first options to come out will be a cap for the back, but then why not just get a JLU?

I'd add a Truxedo and be happy as all get-out.

Kinda hard to sell something that doesn't exist. I am pretty sure the Tacoma is no longer available in a standard cab.

RAM is not a good comparison because they are full size trucks that are already big to begin with. The JT is a mid size truck with an offroad focus, so a short bed standard cab will be very desirable. The 4 door option will be there as well, of course.

You could just get a bed cover instead of a cap, but I fail to see how a truck with a cap is the same as an SUV.

Unfortunately it looks like the JT got delayed and the other site is saying it may be due to the diesel.

Spent the day with a guy I know from Chrysler. He told me the jeep pickup has been around for 5 years. What?? I cant remember the name of the company who has been doing the conversions for awhile. But Jeep basically took there conversion and is mass producing it.
The diesel is being held up because of emissions thanks to the Volkswagen fiasco.

Given that one would be pressed to find a broader after-market products base than Wrangler, it stands to reason that 3rd party vendors, if not Mopar as well, will design a cab cap for the back 1/2 of the vehicle.

...so, will this make the JT[U] look like a long JK[U], or a short Wrangler limo...? semantics (wink)

JT was never scheduled to be released for a few more years, so I don't see how it has been delayed?

How about 15 years! (that's how long I have been waiting), and listening to the BS from Jeep EVERY year for 15 years about how it' coming next year!

Well, as they say in the song "Tomorrow" from Annie, "Tomorrow is only a day away.

So when Jeep says the new Jeep pickup is coming out next year.

REMEMBER, NEXT YEAR IS ALWAYS A YEAR AWAY!

And sorry to say folks, that's no joke! Next year is ALWAYSa year aways for Jeep!
