Could anybody explain the motor swap laws in SC to me? I have searched online but the only thing that I have come up with is that SC is a no emissions state for the most part. Some states say you have to swap in a same year or newer motor and the emissions equipment must work. Some states don't care. Specifically I can find older ls1 engines for a lot cheaper then newer engines. I would like to have a v8 in a JKU, is it do able legally?

Well- we don't have any inspections, so not sure how they would know otherwise. I have never been pulled over and have them ask to look at the engine. I think a V8 in the JKU would be awesome. I know guys that have CJ's, YJ's, and TJ's with all swapped engines that are not even available in the Jeep lineup. I also know of at least one CJ that has been converted over to propane, and a TJ with a an LS swap. I would say go for it as I don't think you will have an issue with it.
