Jeeping in Pisgah

Let's face it...NC is not exactly Moab. Finding true trails outside of Uharrie are hard to find. For a pleasant afternoon with the family take the trail that runs from Linville Falls to Lake James. It's an 18 mile gravel road that goes from 1900 ft above sea level to 3500 ft at Wisemans view... then down to Lake James It will take about 2 hours by the time you stop along the way. On a clear day the view at Wisemans is astounding... The day we went in May, 2012, we saw turkeys and a timber rattlesnake. He didn't like us riding near him. It's not exactly an offroad experience but I sure felt better in my JKU than some of the cars that were making the trip. And besides our small caravan of two Rubicons and my JKU looked good on the trail and it's better to look good any day.

It's the Pisgah Loop. Go to Google Maps satellite view or Google Earth and you can see it.
