If I get metal cloak tube fenders am I gonna have to get the flares? Is it against nc law for the tires to stick out?

It is illegal in most states, and I believe NC is one of them. however unless they are very obviously or pose immediate danger then you probably wont get too much trouble. I would suggest the flares.

Heck no, mine stick out 3" and I got a friend that just got a full blown 2005 LJ Crawler with Dana 60s off an 84 Chevy(not narrowed) that has got 37"s and there is no part of the tire under the wheel well, with no flares, and it passed inspection, (after he borrowed my windshield wipers), were in NC also

U won't have any problems w/ anything in NC. You should see my rig. Windows 5% or darker (yes darker) and windshield completely 40% w the bottom 1/4 measuring under 3%. Simple things such as your wheels sticking out won't get noticed...
