New to Raleigh area

Just moved to the Raleigh are from Wilmington. (Transferred to State) Also fairly new to the jeep world but been working on cars my whole life. I basically have adopted what was my fiance's first vehicle, a 91 Renegade that her sister wrecked. So, I am bringing it back to life, in regular wrangler form.

It still has half the renegade trim on, I don't want to take it off until I figure out the best way to feel the numerous holes that will be left behind. Hoping to get a basic paint job by the end of summer. Haha, we got any painters in the area.

Look forward to meeting some guys and learning something about wheeling.
Im Nick by the way.

Welcome to the 'hood Nick. Meet and greet at 4Wheel parts store on 70 this weekend around 10am, then on to Lock'd and Load'd saloon in Garner around noonish. C'mon out!

Welcome to the area. I would try to find some stuff called "TigerHair". That is some good stuff. Get you a nice grinder and a sanding block, and fill 'em up, and smooth 'em out.
I am not a painter, but it isn't hard to do a decent paint job when using single stage enamel. The trick is in mixing-in the thinner and hardner properly. The taping and sanding prep is easy enough. It is easy to spray the paint on

Nice, thanks for the welcome. We are really loving the area so far. Yeah, my main thing is not having a place to do the paint. I have done a couple backyard jobs and probably know enough to do it. Haha, I am not even supposed to work on a vehicle, i wonder what they would think about me setting up a makeshift paint booth.

I sure am glad I live in the country. None of my neighbors can say anything to me about what I can do

I understand the whole "the neighborhood doesn't want to look like Sanford and Son", but I would be damned if someone would tell me I couldn't work on my heep in my own yard I pay taxes on

Maybe that's just that I am a country boy, but I would really have a hard time having others decide what I could do to my vehicle within reasonable circumstances.

Lemme know what you want to do and when, I may be able to help you if you want to drive to Dunn. I have a 2 bay shop with welding equipment

Nice man, thanks for the invite.

That's the dream! I always joke around saying that I'm putting myself through school to get to my career all so I can afford to play with my toys.

I convinced the old lady to let me do the exterior in Monstaliner since a good paint job is costly and a cheap one (maaco) wont last. So that is the next project. Probably next month, just getting my finances straight again after the move.
