South Charlotte Area - Meet and Greet

Recently I have talked to a couple in this area that are interested in a meet and greet with others.

A one time event is fine however if there is further interest, I personally would not mind if we made it a monthly event, keeping it simple by scheduling a regular day, time and location.

My initial thoughts are meeting in the Pineville or Ballantyne area or somewhere along the lower section of 485 for easy access. If anyone is interested please chime in.

I'm new to the Jeep world! I've always had trucks and bikes but always wanted a Jeep. Talked the wife into it and a few weeks ago got my 06 TJ. But to answer the question I'd be interested in doing a get together.

Haha it sure is an addiction. I'm constantly looking at upgrades for my Jeep. The big trick here is how to convince my wife how they are beneficial. My wife is a very smart women so not an easy task.

Thanks, so are we the only 3 in the Charlotte area who want to meet with other Jeep owners?

I want to learn all I can from other peoples experiences with their jeeps whether it be their mods or off roading experience.

I personally want to find places that have off-road/camping. I've heard of the outer banks of NC but that's it so far.

Check out Brown mountain and Uwharrie National Forest. Neither are open yet I dont think. Also seen talks of Richland Road but no camping there

I agree I love to get a group together to go up to URE.

I understand from the locals in blowing rock that Richland Road as some pretty significant challenges if you don't have the proper gear.

Yeah I'm not sure if my Jeep has all the proper upgrades for extreme off roading. I'd like to get a better bumper and some armor before I go all out.

Yea I don't know much about it but have a friend wanting to check it out. I have zero off road experience so I'm not looking to do anything crazy. Brown mountain looks like a nice place to try based on you tube videos

I have had very little. I will be back in Blowing Rock the weekend of the 15th. I may ride to Richland Road just to check it out. There is a government site that list logging roads that I want to check out. I will share when I find it.

The only off-road experience I really have is 4wheeling but as for my Jeep I've only had it for 2 weeks as of today. I'm really interested in it though.

Between two of the forums there seems to be a few with some interest in a meet up. I am going to throw up a couple of options for time/date and place that works for me. It may be hard to accommodate everyone so give me your preferences and I will choose the one that best fits most.

Please feel free to invite others. At this point I am going on the assumption that there will be 2-10 of us and looking at meeting in close proximity of 77 and 485. If it expands beyond that there may need to be a change in venue. Will cross that bridge if it happens.

Your suggestions are welcome!

Time and Date:
Monday – Thursday 7:30-8:00pm
Any night works

Saturday - Anytime as long as I am home for date night
March 8th, 22nd, 29th

Sunday – 2pm or 3pm
March 9th, 23rd, 30th

Places – Daytime Child Friendly
Long Horn Steakhouse
10605 Centrum Parkway

Applebee’s
10921 Hwy 51

Applebee’s
8710 South Tryon

Places – Night Time
Tilted Kilt
13230 Carowinds Blvd

Hooters
9807 South Blvd

Are you on JeepForum as well? I am on there as well but people seem friendlier on here.

As for me weekends work better for me. I'm normally working long days during the week. Any place works for me.

I am on this one and the JK forum. I have heard that same comment before about the Jeep forum. Although I am not a member of that form I will occasionally slide over there and read some threads.

I understand there are some others as well including a local one but they're not as active. Being a member on two forms is enough for me.

Oh ok yeah when I was looking to buy I was close to buying a 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sport. I went with the 06 X because it actually has less mileage and was cheaper. When my wife and I have kids down the road I'll probably upgrade to a 4 door Jeep Wrangler!

We have 3 so the 4 dr. was a requirement for me. Would not mind hunting for a older model 2 DR a couple years down the road.

Yeah get an older 2 door and build it strictly for off-road and use the 4 door for everything else.

Did you enjoy the snow the other week? I was suppose to get my jeep before that but the place closed down early so I had to wait until Friday unfortunately. I was hoping to have some fun in it.

I just moved down here from up north last year so I've seen way more snow than that. Still fun to get out and use the 4x4!

I planed to clean out the garage so that I can mount my hard top hoist this Saturday however I could be persuaded to meet up for a ride to the event if anyone is interested.

I think it'd be fun to check out. I should be available but I'll have to see what my wife has going on.

As for your hard top hoist let me know how that goes. I have a soft top but eventually I want to get a hardtop for the winter but I'd want a hoist as well if I did.

I am in mooresville and am in a group that is fairly active. It's not jeep specific though. We just got back from the gulches. You guys are welcome to join us on any trail rides.
