Hey everyone, planning a trip to flagpole knob on March 9th. Let me know if you want to come. There is a sheetz on rt 15 off 66. We will be meeting at 0715 and departing no later than 0745. I will post a trip and trail plan a few days prior to the trip when I know how many people will be attending.

I apologize to REAPER for jacking your ride! didn't mean to come across that way, just was trying to help since there was barely any info regarding this.

So if I came across as a "Type A obnoxious individual" didn't mean to come across that way and wasn't trying to be "presumptuous and insulting " by hijacking this thread!

#89 ·
Wow, I got a phone call from Dan talking about this thread going from one hijack to another and now apparently it has been taken over by another member.

As I stated in prior posts, I will be putting out a TRIP/TRAILPLAN 1 week prior to the ride. At this point I will have people start informing me if they are coming and what equipment they have. There is absolutely no point in getting down into the details until this point due to everybody's schedule changing.

My small group and I are not a member only group. We also do not treat anybody with disrespect because they have a stock Jeep or even a completely different vehicle ie trailblazers, yukons, tahoes.

As for talking shit I hope your just stating you'll be BSing on the CB. I will not tolerate anybody putting anyone down and if you do I will ask you to proceed a head of us and don't look back.

We are all going on this trip for the same reason...TO HAVE FUN AND MEET NEW PEOPLE IN THE OFFROAD COMMUNITY. Dan I appreciate you sticking up for me and my planned trail ride. Anybody is welcome to join us and if you would like for buddacon to plan out his own trip and join him, please send him a pm so he can start his own thread.

Sorry didn't mean to jack your ride was just trying to help that's all, and I'm pretty sire palehorse was referring to talking shit was as in joking around on the radio and not disrespecting anyone .

But all is good lets have fun I'm down to meet new people and enjoy some trails

#91 ·
Agree. All I want to do is meet people and enjoy the trail.

Whoa, are we gonna have a Hells Angels/Pagans style rumble at Flagpole on our hands?

On that note, I am currently without spare (because I have only had mine for a few months, and didn't anticipate the whole "cost of 35-inch wheels and that they would have to have a swing away mount" thing), am I going to be screwed on these trails? They sound pretty tame from what I am reading here. If it's an issue for anyone, I'll bow out until I rectify the situation... I'm out more for an intro trail ride than I am for any hardcore wheeling/crawling, especially since I am bringing the young-ins...

#97 ·
You wont be screwed but is there any way you can put your spare in the back? If you need I will have a good bit of space in my Jeep you can put some stuff if you need. I would highly recommend bringing your spare, sad thing is I'm not worried about the trail, I'm concered about the 1 1/2 hour drive to harrisonburg.

Alright everyone chill, I think Dan didn't explain into detail and you took it the wrong way. Ill give you a quick explaination; Dan has attempted to attend nvjp rides but he was not allowed because he didn't have a CB. Also we have had a few people that came out with us and were very thankful that we allowed non Jeeps to attend a ride. I have already talked with jwilson about this and was informed y'all have a few bad bitter apples in your group. We have also came across a couple from your group that were the "type a personality and took it to the extreme. I'm not saying other groups don't as well, but we try to squash that before we even hit the trail.
I am performing a slight thread jack here...if anyone was denied going on a NVJA ride because of not having a CB, then that was wrong. They are only recommended equipment, not required. I really hope you won't sour on our whole group from a couple bad people. I'd invite anyone to come out to a trail ride or M&G I'm at, I think you will find we're a pretty good group. Heck Danrb or Reaper, if you come out I'll gladly buy you a beer if that helps.

Thread jack over...bummed I have to miss this ride to having travel to a large Navy ship for work.

No problems here from me j, as I stated we talked and you informed me of what's been happening.
That sucks you can't make it out though, bit we will get together on of these days and actually meet face to face and have that beer.

Sounds like a plan. If for some reason my plans change, I'll pop back in and join you guys.

Also didn't realize about Dan either, so I wanted to reach out to him as well, hence my temp thread jack.

Great! Looking forward to see if you've done anything new with your zombies. Kids were a little freaked last time, but I thought your jeep is setup real nice.

#110 ·
Yeah, I'll have my kids and wife in the rig on this one and will have the CB on. I don't have any other type of radio...

For those of you coming from the Fredericksburg area, shoot me a PM. I'll be facilitating the caraJeep from this area out West. I'm coordinating with Reaper on the meet-up of the Northern folks.

No doubt, been looking at them today. My wish list is about as long as it can get right now, and it is probably going on there as well. This is just my first real outing, and I haven't ever had the use for one in my life before now, so I will look into it a bit, check out others, and go from there. In the meantime, I'll make do with what I've already got from other sources. hehe

Hey guys, I will have the trip/trail plan posted either late tonight or tomorrow morning. I have to watch my daughter for a few hours and then I get to try to install the viair constant duty that I thought had everything I needed like the description said. Just for info purposes the brake booster mount does not come with any of the viair oba systems.... sucks

#125 ·
Hey guys, hope I can squeeze in before you get a head count. I'm rolling with a stock '13 JK. Been out with rental jeeps in Moab a few times but all easy stuff. This will be my first time Jeepin with my own :). All I have a far as gear is a recovery strap and tool kit. Located near fairfax.

Any additional info you might think is important to pass on.

Schedule

0715-0730am Meet up at
Sheetz
15315 Washington Street
Haymarket, VA
(From DC get off on Route 15. Stoplight make a left. Sheetz will be less than a mile on the left side.)

0745am Depart for Harrisonburg, Va (Route 33 West)

0915am Arrive in Harrisonburg, Va (Route 33 West)
Meet up with the guys coming from Richmond area.
Guys from Richmond will wait at the Sheetz located at
798 East Market Street, Harrisonburg, VA

I will lead group 1 across the street to a bigger parking lot (cant find the address to make it easy to locate). I will then head over to sheetz and grab the guys from group 2 and 3 and lead them to the bigger parking lot.

1000am Leave Harrisonburg, heading for the trailhead.

Trailhead Arrival: From here we will make stops as needed (depending on conditions).

Once I have a list of people coming I will break the entire group into smaller groups (Depending on the turn out, I was not able to reach the guy that would know if we need a permit for more than 10 vehicles). I will try to keep club members together best i can depending on the amount of recovery gear we have.

Stuff I recommend you bring for yourself and family, if they are coming:

-Food and Drinks
-Snow Boots (If you do not have snow boots I would bring and extra pair of socks and shoes)
-Two way radio (We will have a few people with radios, so at minimum we will have one leading the pack and one at the end of the pack) or CB radio
-Camera / Video Camera if desired
-A blanket (in case we get stranded)
-Recovery Gear
-Air Compressor to re-inflate your tires after the trail if you wish to deflate.

This ride is open to anyone that wants to go, just let us know!
