Fort Lee next month!

Hi y'all!!
I am driving my rig cross country from Oregon to Virginia at the end of September so I can start a four month course for my Army officer professional development. So, I will be there from October thru February! I am excited to maybe meet up with some of y'all and find out where to go driving =)

Candace

My bro in law is a correctional officer at ft. Lee, I've seen some big dam catfish come out of the appamattox river that's beside Lee, but I just can't get him to join WF, maybe you can, he's got a green flat fender monster rubi on 35s (if you see him)

I am an officer, going to my quartermaster BOLC. My first MOS when I was enlisted was 77F (now 92F) and I worked in aviation fueling helicopters for a few years before switching to flight operations for four years. I love having a platoon of fuelers and truck drivers (who perform ammo handler duties)!

I am going to have more free time to go traveling around on the weekends so that will be fun, too bad it's during the winter months =/

Did you like it? I loved it because we got the job done and they left us alone otherwise So we definitely tried to stay under the radar. Now I'm in a CAV squadron and unfortunately my fuelers can't stay out of the limelight because the SCO knows how much they rock and he is always recognizing them (awesome). But they work long hours in front of everyone, it's totally different than aviation that's for sure.

Yes, that was the best part of it.
During AT we would be way out-far away from the company. We were national guard anyhow. So while everyone else was doing their thing, we were siting back doing squat waiting for the helicopters to drop in. Most were cold fueled but we had
one or two days of hot fueling while the pilots were on all day training missions.
We pretty much did our own thing anyways

The winter months aren't usually bad around here. Should make the trails more interesting.

I am going to be in a hotel for four months, the only part about the weather I am lamenting is not being able to go around topless/doorless =/ I hate driving in regular cars, it feels stuffy and boring.

I bet that was fun. I'll probably be dropping by there and by NGB proper to meet some of the people I've worked with over the last four years when I got hired on full time. Lots of aviation folks

Definitely. I had a lot of fun working there during those years. The job has changed a lot since then.
