George Washington National Forest

I'm trying to plan a trip out to GWNF for my first off road trip. I was hoping someone on here would have some information or tips about wheeling out there. Anybody got something I should know? Or maybe some of you would want to come along?

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried to find some info on Switzer Dam run and found a few stories from other people, and thats about it. Sounds like it would be fun. Thanks again.

I was hoping to make it out this Saturday (8/21) if the weather was ok and I get my recovery straps in the mail. I'd hate to get stuck without them like I did on the beach

From what Ive found its near skidmore lake, or skidmore fork lake. It looks like its just outside of harrisonburg off of 33. I have been having a hard time getting more specific info.

that is the trail map for GWNF and the switzer dam in section 9. Im assuming the trail people are talking about is the one located south east from the actual dam. If I'm wrong please let me know.
