Hampton Roads mechanic

My jeep is having issues with 1st gear, the dealer believes it's the synchro. I'm waiting for them to get back to me on estimated parts+labor cost.
I imagine I could buy a new vehicle for what they're going to charge, I was wondering if anyone knows or has used a reputable mechanic around the area?
