Jeep trip, NOVA's?

I've owned my Jeep for two years now, and have never taken the poor thing out. Actually, have never off roaded before...

But what's important, is I would like to.

I've noticed that a lot of the members live out in Front Royal, or further down off 81 like Roanoke, etc. This also happens to be where a lot of the trails are. Are there any members here that are located in NOVA, right outside DC? Alexandria, Fairfax, Arlington, etc. that would be interested in getting together and taking a trip out that way for a day?

It's a little cold to be camping, so maybe a day trip over one of these upcoming weekends. I'd really like to have somebody with some experience tag along, and maybe somebody with a winch, should it be needed.

Thoughts?

There's lots of places to wheel near by!

Virginia Offroad - Google Maps

Make sure to check to see if the trails are open before going,
and always go with others!!

YHSublime - i live in Arlington and I'd be down for a day trip, but i don't know if i'll be able to go before June. I have some gear (winch, hi-lift, etc) but not a lot of experience so I'm up for tagging along with a veteran jeeper. I'll keep my finger on this thread and touch base when I have a free weekend... Cheers!

Lynskyn - thanks for the link!

Sounds like we've got a pretty good crew around here that we could throw a trip together, excellent! I'll research some local "playgrounds" and see what we can come up with!

-Let me know if this happens, chances are I wont be able to make it, I'm moving : / but maybe!

@RescueGreenRoamer: Herndon is not far at all. I used to work out there, but now I'm in Alexandria. I'm going to poke around today and see what I can find out. Thanks lynskynbnd for the link, it will definitely help plan!

@FireFighterIV: You're not toooo far away either, chances are we'll have to pass your way anyways to get to any good off road!

@Degs05TJ: Great to meet another Arlingtonian! Is it time an issue before June, or your rig wont be ready? If we get something rolling, you're always welcome to tag along with me!

@redbear762: The more the merrier! It seems like we can probably get a group rolling sooner than later!

Lightbulb

I'm going to Big Boys Playground March 31 - April 1
They're having an Open Event that weekend.
including raffles, givaways, food available, campfire, camping ect.
$15 per person per day. camping is free if you go both days. no charge for vehicles.
I'm going to attend this event.

What's there:
Motocross track for Motorbikes and ATV's, an old motocross track to drive the jeeps on, mud holes of different difficulties, tight/twisty/rocky trails in the woods, rock piles and other obsticles. Kids can to play in the creek on warm days.

Firing range/skeet shooting on request.
Kelly's hoping to have a zip line installed by the summer.
Camping, and close to GWNF for other trails.

There are also MX races there.

Yes it's small, but only 1.5-2 hours away from NoVa. Can make a fun weekend of different things to do.

On Rt 11 just north of Harrisonburg

Anyone interested in going too?
I'm thinking about going Friday afternoon and make a whole weekend out of it.
