They usually shut down each year from the third Monday of January through the middle of March.

There can't be only one place to go in VA? I heard about The Cove but don't know much more than the fact that its right by the border of West VA.

I'm planning a trip up to Rausch Creek this weekend (12 Jan) to take their off roading 101 course. Understand it's pretty good. Rausch Creek Off Road Park

Where are you located in Virginia? Assuming its Northern VA, the only place that I know of is the Peters Mill / Taskers Gap OHV complex near Edinburg, VA. There are about 40 miles of trails in the complex but only the Peters Mill and Taskers Gap trails are open to 4WDs . Both trails are on the mild side so they are a good place to get some experience. Feel free to PM me and I'll give you the run down.

Note: this trail closes for the season 1/22.
P.S. I have a GPX track and waypoint file that I can share if you are into GPS.
