Peters Mill Run is now open!

Just got off the phone with the Forest Service to confirm that Peters Mill Run is finally open! I have been itching to get out and get my Jeep dirty, so this saturday april 13th at 10:00am I will be at the Shell station off I-81 to meet anyone who wants to go hit Peters Mill and Taskers Gap. Family friendly. I will have my wife and my two boys ages 8,5 with me. If anyone is interested in going let me know.

I plan on going, will most likely be just my fiancé and I in my jeep. First time out there for Jeeping, looking forward to it!

Wish I could make it. Just moved to VA and I'm new to the scene. Maybe next time.

Lol. Nice day, really need a reason to procrastinate. Unfortunately, I wouldn't make it out there until about 11:30.

Enjoy!

Good time! Met up with smile guy and his son, he showed me around and had some fun. Trails were a little wet with some big puddles to make a big splash and get the jeep dirty :-) nothing very technical but you do have to pay attention to your line in a stock jeep to keep from rubbing or catching some bigger rocks in a few places.

On a desperate note, there are some good hikes in the area too. My fiancé and I went to the firetower at the end of peters mill which was a quick 5 min hike with a good view. Then we drove a little ways to wolf gap and did 2 hikes there from the same parking area. Tibbet knob to the SW a little over 3 miles round trip to a nice view and then Big Schloss to the NE, a little over 4 miles round trip. We watched the sunset and hiked back in the dark with headlamps. We were hoping to catch some of the northern lights last night but my fiancé did t dress warmly enough so we hiked back right after sunset :-)

Fun day! Next time I think we will do it on a weekday and camp on top of big Schloss, there are quite a few camp sites with awesome views!

I'm down goonie. Count me in.

My schedule is non-standard, so sometimes weekdays are my weekend

Nice, me too, I work wed-fri and every other sat. It's awesome being able to do things during the week and not have to deal with crowds of people
