Shenandoah

I am new the the Jeep community. Just bought a JK, no one in my family has ever owned a Jeep. I look forward to offroad, and explore my Jeep capabilities, and meet a new community.

I also understood the jeep wave fairly quick, and it feels good. My bf has an XJ, and has been teaching me the "Jeep life". Haha

Hey folks,

Wifey and I are from Strasburg and we wouldn't mind driving up Skyland Drive maybe the last weekend in Oct. for the fall leaves and maybe getting a bite to eat.

We're getting her baby a touch up so it'll be in the paint shop Oct. 15th but should be out by the last weekend.

Maybe there are others in the Shenandoah Valley area that would be interested?

Thanks

Well I'm not sure exactly... wife and I live about 10 miles from the Front Royal entrance, but we could maybe meet somewhere near the 211 entrance and then pick a direction. I guess it all depends where folks are from and then finding a middle meeting area.

Maybe thats the idea, plan a picnic meet & greet at pinnacles or something. Its just south of 211, with a pavilion and restrooms.

Then whoever could branch off however, tree viewing or trail riding or whatever.

I would be coming from Richmond. I don't know what the entrance is that I usually go through but I usually get off at exit 99. I don't know how far that is from y'all.

Where are you in Richmond? We need to find some trails or mud or something around here

I can meet at 99, thats the Rockfish Gap, or southern most entrance (milemarker 105 on SD, and right off I64). The next entrance north is Rte 33 (mm 65), then Rte 211 (mm 31.5), then Front Royal, the north entrance, at mm 0.

I think if we got a Rockfish group and a Front Royal group, that'd be pretty cool. Maybe meet at Big Meadows (mm 51). Plenty of hiking there, too. Or South River Picnic area, at mm 62, its got a nice trail to some falls, may be a bit dry in late Oct though.

Theres also Lewis Mtn Campground at 58, not much for hiking trails there.

Aforementioned Pinnacles is at mm 37, not much for hiking there either.

Just remember, Skyline Drive goes up in miles as you go South, down as you go North, and is 105 from top to bottom, 35MPH the whole way.
