Shoe Creek

Happened to be off today and the weather is going to be awesome high near 55 and Sunny all day. So I'm going to make a last minute run to Shoe Creek. If anyone else happens by I'll be listening on Channel 19. Probably be at the trailhead about 10:00-10:30. I know it's last minute, but I didn't want to run the trail without extending the invitation to other Jeepers.

Thanks for sharing the pics! Nice Jeep also . I can't wait to go back there, it's been years since I've been and I live fairly close to it.

It's a great little area, I just wish there were better maps avaliable to show where it's OK to wheel and what's private property.

I'll be camping there in May, a friend of mine knows someone who has private property and a cabin there so I'll try to find out some more info for you. You've gotta love knowing people that own land. 99% of where I wheel is on private land. Luckily one place is 4 miles from my house, a couple hundred acres farm with trails, we spent every weekend making new ones over the winter.

Yeah, I know where the trail entrances/exits are... but I wondered the same... I have never wheeled out there before but I think it is the perfect spot for my wife to get some seat time in behind the wheel on our jeep.

Its just outside Lynchburg I believe. Or at least one side of it. In Amherst County to be exact. Wrangler06 goes to school here in Roanoke where I live and he has directions to the trail head north of Lynchburg on 460. You're more than welcome to meet up with us somewhere saturday morning. Same for anyone else checking out this thread.

Does anyone have more info on this place? Are there camp grounds or do you just camp wherever you like and maps I see someone said something about private property so how do you know where to go in and where to stay and stay away from? I would love to go there for a weekend and camp and ride looks like alot of fun for a weekend of camping and light trail rides.

I found a place off London Bridge road where there are tire tracks going back in there, I talked to the farmer who owns the land he said I could go back there when ever I wanted Va beach police said I can't, turns out I have to cross the city's " right of way" ( a ditch) to get there and they don't want tire tracks on their precious little 3 foot ditch cause a Scion got stuck in it

went there this weekend..there are tons of camp sites there..there just right on the side of the trail..and the trail is obvious to follow, private property is marked and they are all side roads so no biggie, very fun place

Hello, I'm new here to the forum, and to Jeeping. The family is interested in Shoe Creek next weekend. Can someone help with a few questions?

We have a 2012 JKU, stock wheels and tires, I believe they are 16" rims.

Can we safely do Shoe Creek?
How long is the "Beginner" trail system? How long should it take from start to finish?

Is it well marked?

Thank you.

Hop in the "shoe creek when its warm" its a little more active.

But to answer your question. You should ne fine. If its wet it'll be a little more challenging. There no beginner trail. Just trails. Not marked. Only thing marked are the posted roads that are private property.

I have a tj and was stock when I went. A buddy has 2007 jk and we both were fine. Lots of people for that matter are fine going through it.
Most of the obstacles you can avoid them and go around.

Just jump in our more popular thread I mentioned and you can find more people wanting to go

You would be fine. As said if its wet it will be more tough. The first time I went my jku was stock and I didn't have trouble.

Thank you for the responses. The pictures are great, video on youtube had me a little concerned, but some of the video must be from the side trails too. Hope to make it up there this sunday. waiting for some safety gear to arrive, and we'll be good to go. I hope to meet some of you on the trails. Look for us in the gecko, training our teen daughter(s) too!
