Trails in VA?

Anyone know some good trails to take the jeep on? I'm not opposed to going to MD either.

There are several in the George Washington National Forest near Harrisonburg, search for Rocky Run or Taskers Gap. There is also some further south on I-81. Do a search for Shoe Creek for info on that one. As for Maryland, check out Greenridge State Forest.

These are all pretty mild but fun none the less.

Occasionally there are events at Oak Ridge in Lovingston. Crab Tree Falls is nice, it's open year round to the public, Big Dogs in Winchester Home. Thats all I can think of.

Are we actually able to take our jeeps on these trails?

Yes. These are mostly old fire roads that are now off road trails where jeeps are allowed. Although, i think I listed the wrong trail above. Taskers Gap and Peters Mill are part of the same system of trails. One of them is just for ATV's. They other is open to Jeeps. The others are open to both ATV's and Jeeps.

Agreed! I'll be spending a lot of time up in the mountains of PA on their trails. I do need to find some local ones too. I'm down in Woodbridge.

Yeah! Sounds fun! I know some people told me about fredricksburg. They have some off roading trails. I'm in Fairfax. Bought a new top and that was a process to put on myself.

We need to rally and find more locals willing to do the trails! Most of the people with Jeeps around here actually lower them and put on 22's...I hate that.

How'd the top come out? Soft top?

Why in the heck would someone want to lower a jeep, that's stupid. The top is a soft top and it went... Well it went on after about 5 hours of me doing it myself. Not bad for a first timer! First jeep, and it didn't come with instructions. YouTube was my friend. Ha ha.

I'm in Woodbridge...there's a lot of stupidity here. Glad to hear you got the soft top on ok. It would have taken me just as long if there were no instructions, I'm brand new to Jeeps.

Sounds like a plan! I checked out the NOVAjeepers.net forum and everyone is saying there's nothing around here that's legal as far as trails. We'd have to drive south or west to find something.

Greenridge state park in maryland is a pretty decent place to go. nothing wild just more or less a slow country drive. then you have The Cove out past winchester. its really rocky there and has alot of 4 wheelers and think it carries a price tag of 25.00 a day per vehicle at least it did the last time but that was when i took a four wheeler not a jeep

So far, I've been checking out the local Jeep forum novajeepers.net. they are more active in organizing trail rides. I'm headed up to PA to get mine out on the trails there.

Just wanted to note that the ORV trail at Green Ridge State Forest is closed as of Sunday. It may, or may not, reopen.

Falls Church here, as of recently, but still close to Arlington. I'd be down for some trail trips this summer!
