Why I Bought My Jeep

My Post Office here in Norfolk would not drive in the snow to deliver mail, so I slipped into 4WD and drove through the snow to pick up my mail.

On the way home a driver was just getting stuck deeper trying to rock his way out of a snow drift. I stopped and pulled him out with my tow rope.

I guess, "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds," only applies to the J Farley PO in NY!

Good for you to help a stranger out!

Where do you typically attach a tow rope when you're doing this? I would worry about damaging someone's car. Seen too many videos of people pulling the bumpers off of cars. LOL

Depends on the vehicle. And if person seems nervous or edgy about being helped out of ditch...I suggest they call a tow truck...not worth some idiot coming after you about "alleged" damage you caused helping them.

Most vehicles have some sort of tow point. They're usually tucked up there, so you have to really look. Really it's just about a good angle, taking it nice and slow, and making sure you're hooking up to something solid.

I always tell the other person to hook it to their car. Then I tell them if it breaks it's on them. Most are ok with that
