They mount on the jeep with the rails. That's why I'm looking for a set.

Also ordered a CB today. I picked up a Cobra 78 LX and ordered a 3' Firestik Firefly with a quick disconnect mount and the other stuff I need to mount it from the rear tire carrier. I'll probably be rushing around Thursday night next week getting that installed as long as everything actually makes it to me in time.

I got my handheld CB and extended antenna last week. I haven't tried it out yet.

One more in the area

I'm in Charles Town and I just joined the Jeep family. I'd be interested in meeting up with some Jeepers, not much of a mechanic myself, but I enjoy good beer, so there is that. Alto's on Rt. 45 has a good steak night on Wednesdays, $13 20 oz. NY strip and $5 pitchers....

What's with the stupid tires can't stick past the fender flare crap laws here? I'm from Winchester and never had any issues getting anything inspected. Guess I gotta get some bigger flares now, crapity

You just need to find an unreputable inspection station with shady fellows that cater to back alley dealings.

I'm ordering a 2.5" Rock Krawler Flex lift either the end of this week or the beginning of the next. Have to order shocks and bumpstops too, but those should be acquired in about another 2-3 weeks, I'm hoping. After that it's wheels and tires, the ACE rear bumper with carrier, and front bumper. Then hopefully around tax time I'll have the money for the gearing.

I should be finished with the major stuff then. It sucks that it feels like if you buy one piece, you have to have the next for this whole thing. A lift with stock wheel and tires will look like garbage. I need a new carrier for my spare because the weight can pull the rivets out. A rear bumper with a stock front bumper will look off. 3.21 gears with 35's will really hamper my acceleration.

Modify one thing, ya always gotta modify something else. Just the name of the game.

I started looking into Rock Krawler stuff after reading some reviews on the AEV vs. Rock Krawler stuff. I was dead-set on AEV but now I'm leaning towards the Rock Krawler 2.5". I think it may have been you who told me the Rock Krawler stuff looked a lot beefier than the AEV stuff. It wasn't until then that I started really looking at stuff closely.

Not around here. There's places that will inspect your head lights and horn and then will slap a sticker on. I think it's because of our yearly inspection where as MD has a one time inpespection unless you're ordered to get one done.

Yep. Hell, I'm not even running cats on my Camaro and they don't check. Then again, I don't think there are any emissions laws for WV.

I know of ONE place in the area that won't just do a "lick and stick" though. My wife's car had low tread on the tires and they still wouldn't pass her, even though I had brand new tires in the trunk. I was on my way to getting them put on. They told me to come back after the new tires were mounted.

Yeah, the AEV uses brackets and isn't upgradable at all. People will say either does a great job on road. I hear that the RK gives you more clearance with the contral arms. I was also looking at the max travel and decided to just go with the flex at the moment. The only difference between the two is that the max travel has rear control arms that can be ordered at a later date and put on. Plus they're warrantied for life.

I had to get a modified sticker for mine and not many places did those around here, or at least not that I know of.
