I installed a lift last weekend. I put 4 lag bolts into a joist and it is rock solid. Takes less than 30 minutes.

Does yours have a pulley system? Which hoist did you use?

I'm not sure of the brand. I bought it off craigslist. You can do a straight pull of 220lbs or a pulley up to 440lbs.

Sounds like a pretty strong lift! The Harken Hoist I got is only rated for 140 lbs. I think the hardtop for an Unlimited runs around 125 lbs.

Since nothing has been posted lately,I thought I would get it restarted. This is our family project.1988 Sahara with a 383 SBC. Today's project is to try and get the heater working.

Sweet! As cold as it is this morning, you should have more than a fair share of motivation to get it workin'!

That all depends on what you drive. If you have a JK, you're golden, if not, you're not allowed to play in any reindeer games.

I guess I'll be in the games then, I have a 4door Jk. It's lightly modded. I have a 3 inch teraflex lift, 33inch procomp all terrins, rocker guards so far. I'm free normally on the weekends

You know of any local trails? I'll be planning another trip to Rausch Creek once I get my wheels and tires but until then, I may try an see if there's any semi-local trails to hit up.

Let's have a meet. 2nd Thursday in January at Bdubs? 7:30? That's a good place for people to get food and chat without having to hang out outside.

The trails I know of are big dogs, which is 12miles outside of Winchester, va. Also there are some trails open to the public in va off of 81, below Winchester, I think George Washington national forest. And then I usually play in the woods in front of my house. But I'm kinda new to the area, and would like to meet folks to ride with

What color is it? I'll keep an eye out for it. If you're on Rt.9 a lot, you've probably seen my Rubicon. It's a Bright Silver Metallic 4-door. Yeah, I know, lots of Bright Silver Metallics in the area but I've only seen one other Bright Silver Rubicon in the area besides mine.

There's a real nice Rescue Green with a softtop on black wheels and a lift sitting in my neighborhood. I've always seen a woman driving it.

Will, there are some in Winchester but I'm not sure where. I kept hearing about them while at the stealership but can't remember where they are. There's some club who owns them or something...

What's BDubs?

I think you're right, the Big Dogs trails.

I've been getting my tires from Tire Rack for years. I've always had really good luck with them. I haven't gotten them for the Jeep yet but I'd expect the same luck I've had in the past. I order my tires one day and they're usually sitting at my door the next.

35's are not cheap. It's bad that they're going to cost nearly 3 times as much as 5 wheels shipped with all hardware.

Yeah, cost generally plays a huge factor; yet one more reason I haven't pulled the trigger. I guess I'm just not that "into" my Jeep that I care. While I love my Jeep, it or off-roading simply just aren't passions of mine, making it tough to motivate myself into spending the money.

What kind of mileage are you seeing with the 33"s, and do you have any sideview pics with the 33"s?

I'm getting between 18.5 and 19.5 most of the time, but it varies. I've gotten as bad as 17.5 mpg. I'm yet to see anywhere near 21 mpg that Chrysler claims, but that's at the high end of the spectrum. What I'd like to know is how a 4300 lb Charger with the same engine manages to get nearly 28-30 mpg with this same engine (3.6L), because I just can't believe it's all aerodynamics...
