Spruce Knob Run on Sunday, 2/16/14

I'm gonna take a stab at wheeling up Spruce Knob this Sunday and see how far up the road I can get. I was told the road is open year round although is not plowed. I've been up it before but not in the snow.

If you are interested please post up. I'm guessing this will not be a stock friendly experience. I'll be fully locked, on new 35s, chains front and rear, and winches on both ends.

Careful up there especially with the weather we have gotten, if your going to try the scenic highway bring extra help, we had a group go last year with some serious rigs, the guy in front had 42's it can get extremely deep up there. Our club has been talking about doing a ride up there again at some point come check it out at jeepinwv.com!

My wife and I had a great day yesterday at Spruce Knob. Less than 4 miles from the top we hit a 200 yard long snow drift that forced us to turn back. I'll post a better trip report and video later in the week. Here are two pics from our little outing.

Nice that looks like fun! I am surprised to see pavement this time of the year

You and me, both. One moment we were having to back up and charge the snow drifts and the next moment we were driving on pavement. This was the only exposed pavement section that we saw. It was very windswept and only about 15 yards long.

We turned around about a half mile before East Overlook and directly below the peak. Straight line the observation tower was only 3/10 mile from us. I was hoping to claim first deep snow summit of 2014 fame.

I signed up for your club's forum. I'd love to make a run with you guys. We snow camp, too.

Sounds llike you all had some fun. I tried to PM you but your mailbox was full. I love to wheel in western VA and eastern WVA. PM me and maybe we can get together.

Nice! there are a bunch of guys that live up toward that area, it wouldn't be hard to find people to run with!
