Wants to play

Just moved to hot springs south Dakota from Joplin, missouri! I am new to this area and need some advise on some killer trails that are close bye! I went wheeling alot in missouri in the mark twain national forest. I was planning a trip there once more before I made my move out here , and to my suprise when I got there, they had shut down all the trails and ended my memories! Now I need some new trails I can have fun on! I currently just put some new Mickey Thompson ttc shoes on and a new best top super top on and was looking forward to putting new 4.88 gears in to give my 2.5 l motor a fighting chance! Currently running 33/12.50r15 with stock gearing and have low end torque but can't reach a max speed of about 55mph! UntilI get new gears put in, I don't think I'll be traveling very far especially in this hilly area! Any advise to find some good wheeling and possibly join a jeep club if there any down this way! Thanks alot

Welcome to the forum, Pick up a U.S forest service map of the Black Hills all the trails and roads are marked and its free at any forest service office. The maps have good info. There are two maps one is northern hills the other the southern hills. I use them all the time.

I'm up in Rapid but I went down to edgemont and hot springs a time or two. The people I talked to said there are some good spots out there and hot springs apparently has an annual mud run. The jeep jamboree also runs a trail up in deadwood. I'm not from here originally but I'm stationed here my problem is I have a decent rig but I don't want to hurt a brand new jeep and I only know people with trucks out here. You can do buffalo national grassland in farmingdale too it's just mud after some rain no problem with decent tires. A few hills and they closed the shooting range out there so no worries about that anymore.
