Any Flint Hills Jeep Club members on WF?

Just became a member of the Flint Hills Jeep Club as of the beginning of this month. Just curious if there are any other WF members who are FHJC members as well.
I'm in Manhattan. I'm a charter pilot/flight instructor at Kansas Air Center out at the airport. I'm looking forward to doing some organized runs with my two Wranglers.

Just got a group email from the club. Looks like Briggs is going to have their big Jeep Jamboree at the Tuttle Creek ORV Park on October 12th. That should be a good time. I'll get more details and probably start a new thread.

I was wishing to have my offroad trailer built and completed by the Jamboree this year for an offroad shakedown run, but it doesn't look like it'll be finished.

Here's where it is right now...

That looks nice. I've been wanting something like that myself. Wish I had the stuff to fab one up.

Thanks! I wouldn't be able to do it if I didn't have this hangar. I don't have a garage at my house

And here is the most current pic. Took it today before taking the trailer on a shakedown run. Worked great!

I know this is an older post, but I was a member for approx. 9 months. I had a lot going on when dues where needed and let everything lapse. Also haven't posted on here in forever. Once things slow down over the winter I plan on joining back up. Great group of people, cant say enough good things about their willingness to help each other. They did amazing things when I jumped in over my head and hosted an event last year at KRocks to raise money for the families of the two Ofc's killed here in Topeka. With out there help there is no way I would have pulled that off! Also, bit of an update, I went from "old blue" the TJ to an 03 Rubi, and no have a bone stock 08 JKU Rubi. Going to level it out, put on some better shocks and some 33" Duratracs in the next couple of weeks. Would like to get together with everyone for a shake down run.

Right on. We wheeled at Tuttle together a while back. It's been a couple years since then! I've since sold my TJ and now have a YJ and an '09 JKR. I'm in Manhattan now. I think when we wheeled previously, I was living in Salina. Would love to do some wheeling with you any time soon. My wife and I are new to the club and are looking for people to hang with while on some of these scheduled runs. The big Briggs Jeep Jamboree is coming up on the 12th of October, so I'm sure we'll get a chance to meet a bunch of club members there. Looking forward to it!

That Crawlin 4 the Fallen event was pretty awesome, that was the first Jeep event I had ever been too

Will do! I'm in a black two-door Rubi with an AEV HR hood and hardtop. See you around!

Thanks Hardermods! We raised over $10K for the families! The money was used to send family members to Washington DC to honor Dave and Jeff during Police Week. They had everything covered including flights, rooms and food. We had several fundraisers and totaled approx. $30k. Enough left over to send the Harwood family this next spring. Hopefully we'll never have to send another family. I really appreciate you coming out and supporting the event!

Cavediver; how's the AEV hood? Worth the $? I was thinking about louvers to save money but would love to have the AEV HR hood.

You'll for sure get to meet a lot of FHJC members at the Jamboree, they do a lot of the registration stuff as well as guided trail runs at Tuttle Creek. Another event that wouldn't happen if it wasn't for the FHJC.

I don't know if it's worth the money, especially if it was coming out of my own pocket. I can think of better ways to spend the $1300 that it costs. My insurance company paid for the hail damage, and I was able to fit the AEV hood into the mix. I love it, but I don't think I'd pay that much money for a hood, even if it's a heat reduction hood. I'm a big believer of form following function, and this hood is more about form than function. I love the way it looks though! If it was MY money, I'd do the louvers before I'd shell out the dough for the AEV hood, but since it was through insurance, I was happy to upgrade

I was wondering if there would be any event for the Harwood family! Thats great that you'll be able to help them as well.

-Side note: I did the louvers on my TJ and love them.

Thanks guys, mind made up. Got my leveling kit in with new shocks. Went with Teraflex 9550's. Duratracs will be here Wednesday (285/70r17's). Won't be a huge change but still fun to wrench on a Jeep again. Should be set by the next weekend. I was thinking about jumping in with the FHJC guys on the Scenic Route run. Did it last year and was a good time, nothing hardcore but a fun little drive through the Flint Hills. Looks like on FB they invited the Backroads Touring Club (adventure bike guys) to join. Hopefully I'll see you guys out there.

I'm not going to be able to make the Jamboree, but tell me a little more about the scenic route run... Where do you meet up and what time? I might be able to do that...

Nevermind. I saw it on their Facebook page. That's a home game for KSU so I won't be able to make that scenic run either...unless I can make some magic happen at work...

I think it's the 25th. My wife just informed me we have a birthday and baby shower to attend in Wichita that weekend. So, I'll be running last year's scenic route one week from today (Sunday). If you guys are free I'll meet you in Paxico and go from there. A lot of dirt road driving and not a lot of "wheeling", but it's a nice drive. We can figure out a time. I'm also going to try and get a few guys from work with Jeeps to go out as well.

I'm headed back to Beloit next weekend, but I don't know if I'm coming back to Manhattan on Saturday evening or Sunday. I'll let you know. I think there might be a decent chance that I'll get to run the scenic run with the club on the 25th. Working out the details with a couple of the other pilots to cover shifts...

It was a pretty good turn out at the Jamboree. Think they said 94 Jeeps.

Was my sisters first time offroad in her Gecko JK, I was surprised that she had the only one there that color.

I'm bummed we couldn't make it. Sounds like there was a decent turn out.
