I'm gonna guess I saw you drive by the house the other day. Grey Dodge and silver JK out front. Right past all the bird houses.

Hutch guy with new junk

Man, somehow, talking about my junk with a bunch of guys I don't know just doesn't sound right. That said, I guess I'll show it to you anyway...lol.

https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/phot...eat=directlink

This is my first venture into Jeeps and although I was pretty disappointed when it got here (bought it online, the last time I'm doing that), she really isn't that bad, especially in comparison to some I've seen. She was NOT quite as described, though that might be a good thing when I scratch her up the first time.

Right now she is bone stock and kind of butt ugly in my opinion. I haven't told her that though because I don't want her spitting stuff on the floor or kicking up her heels outside of the shop.

I first just started cleaning her up inside and engine area. There is a lot of "white corosion" from humidity that is a "witch" to clean off, but it will clean up with enough work. Lots of wire brushing, rubbing, cussing and it will at least look as though someone does take care of it. The plus side is that she starts/runs very well and the new exhaust system that was on it sounds pretty good according to a couple of other Jeep guys I know. I really don't have much planned for the engine, at least not for now.

The interior was "ok", probably good considering the age, just dirty and smoke covered. Clean-up is going pretty good on that, but the plans are to pull the seats and carpet out this winter and bed liner the tub. Right now I'm thinking the carpet won't be going back in.

4WD all seems to function ok but no testing other than in the dirt parking area of my shop. The rear differential was almost void of fluids but that's as far as I've gotten. (Not driving it now, just going over it. )

The frame is pretty darn clean and I haven't found any rust...yet. My plans there are to clean it up and bed-liner it this winter too.

Okay, so now comes the fun/work part that I know I can do. Some of you won't care for it and I'm not sure I will in the long run, but for now it will work. Initially it's going to get a shackle lift, probably 31x10.50's and wheels. Tube front bumper is here. Element tube trail doors are here. Diamond plate rockers, corners and tailgate are here as well. Yeah, I'm blinging/pimping her up to start but some of that is to cover three rust areas too. (I was told there was "one dime size spot"). I guess if she glares back at me in the sun too much I can always just keep some mud on her, right? Also have a tan bikini top and cargo net cover for the back area (grandson and his mother will feel safer with that...haha).

Nice to be here and hope to get to know some of you over time. Already learning lots here and getting a few good ideas too. Thanks.

New here. I have a 97 tj sahara with 2.5 rough country lift. I bought it wreaked last year in Oklahoma, traded it and just recently got it back (thank god) I will post pics soon. I just recently put a hardtop on it, relocated mirrors, windshield light mounts, headlight guards and ordered a winch.

Sold my TJ to get a Dodge Ram then missed my Jeep so bad I had to replace it. This is what I have. I hate square headlights in Wranglers, so I'm planning on a CJ front-end conversion at some point. The modifications will begin shortly...

You sold your jeep?!?!? You should be sent to time out, but I will give you credit for your jeepless time already served. Looks like it will be a fun project.

Yeah I was Jeep lonely from mid-December to Monday, Feb 20.

I love my truck. It will make a decent tow rig. It's not a 3/4 ton, but it's set up for towing pretty well. I pulled a heavy tandem axle trailer with a fullsize pickup on it for roughly 200 miles and it didn't even flinch.

Here's a pic of the Ram 4x4...
It's a Big Horn(y) Edition. 5.7 Hemi and 20" alloys. Don't know what else makes it a Big Horn edition other than that...

I loved mine. I had a 08 Big Horn 4x4 with the Hemi. Effin badass truck. I teared up when we traded it in. I towed my Mustang back from New York to Wichita at 80mph and still got 11.5mph.

My Big Horn is an '08. What all is "Big Horn" about these editions? Mine has the 5.7 Hemi and the 20" wheels, but is that all?

I've only had a chance to use the 4x4 in it once so far this winter. Bummer...

(But my tires are road tires and would suck if taken off the highway.)

I think they were all Big Horns when they came with the 20" wheels, YES seats, and 4x4.

If those are the stock tires, you are going to hate them. Mine sucked something fierce. Terrible in the rain and snow. (it didn't help that the 5.7 could SMOKE them at minimal throttle).

My wife and I probably talk once a week about how much we miss that truck.

The dealer had just installed the tires when I bought the truck. They're Hankooks. I've had them in the rain and they seem to do fine, but the rain hasn't been very heavy, so the jury is still out on how they handle in heavy rain. Same with snow. They seem fine so far with the minimal amount of snow we've had, but we haven't had any more than 2 inches MAX so far this winter in Salina. I guess we need some more extreme weather this winter to really get a feel for this set of tires. I'm really not looking forward to replacing a full set of 20" tires! I have to be careful with the throttle, that Hemi wants destroy those tires!

Here's what I'm putting on my YJ. Tires are supposed to be here Saturday. Should get them mounted/balanced early next week. These wheels are awfully shiney. I hope to beat them to $h!t soon!
